Binyam Mohamed To Be Freed From Gitmo
The British resident will be returned to the UK as soon as Monday. There is evidence that Mohamed was tortured and abused after being arrested in Pakistan in 2002, the rendered to Morocco, where he was again tortured and abused. Britain refused to release information about him at the behest of the US, saying doing so would compromise security.
Mohamed’s attorney, Clive Stafford Smith, appeared on radio with me this week and described how his client was treated, including having his genitals sliced with a scalpel. No charges were ever filed against him.
