What You Dream Tonight Will Affect How You Act Tomorrow

Scientists at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and Harvard in Cambridge have discovered that what you dream about while asleep dictates how you behave when you’re awake.


“Our results suggest that the dreams most likely to affect our daily lives and relationships are the dreams that accord with our existing beliefs and desires,” [Carnegie Mellon researcher Carey] Morewedge says.

So a person who dreams about a loyal friend may then act in ways that encourage the friend to behave as in the dream.

 

Similarly, if you dream about someone you don’t like, you will probably continue negative behavior toward that person if the dream portrays that person in a negative light.
