Blago Speaks

Blago told Diane Sawyer his impeachment trial isn’t fair because he’s not allowed to bring witnesses.  Asked about his statements caught on tape, like “it’s a bleeping valuable seat; you just can’t give it away for nothing,” he says he can’t get into the specifics of the case.  When asked if he’s lost his political base, he responds, “Whatever happened to the presumption of innocence?”  He wants to call Rahm Emanuel, Valerie Jarrett, and Jesse Jackson, Jr. as witnesses.  He acknowledges that he considered Oprah as a choice for senator, but that “she probably wouldn’t take it.”  He also believes, “The fix is in.”

The governor explained to NBC’s Amy Robach that when he was arrested he thought at first it was a practical joke.  He then thought of Gandhi, Mandela and King.
