Michael Newdow Fights To Eliminate Prayer From Inauguration

The man who brought the fight against the words “under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Supreme Court is now waging a battle to remove all references to God during the Obama inauguration.

Michael Newdow believes references to God or religion are unconstitutional. He wants to remove the phrase “so help me God” from the oath of office and block the invocation prayer from Pastor Rick Warren.

He’s filing the suit today in DC District Court, along with 17 other people and atheist and humanist organizations. He tried this in both 2001 and 2005 and lost both times.
