Because of Newsweek‘s cover story that substantiates the Bible’s support of gay rights, Christians are calling upon their flock to boycott the magazine. A press release by the PR firm Shirley and Banister:

EVANGELICAL GROUP FIRES BACK AT NEWSWEEK COVER STORY DISTORTING RELIGION AND TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE


KANSAS CITY, MO- Reacting to Newsweek’s current cover story, “The Religious Case for Gay Marriage,” Lou Engle, founder of TheCall and one of the leading organizers of pro-Proposition 8 events in California, urged Christian subscribers to cancel their subscriptions to the magazine.

“Instead of objectively reporting the news, Newsweek is catering to the Manhattan crowd, who think stories attacking religion are trendy,” said Lou Engle, founder of TheCall. “The fact is: an overwhelming majority of Americans believe that God exists and the Bible is His sacred Word.”


The Call’s founder, Lou Engle, is an outspoken anti-gay evangelical.  In the video below, at 6:40 in, Engle, referring to gays in San Francisco’s Castro district, asks God to “turn back this evil.”  At 9:45 Engle refers to a peaceful gay rights demonstration as “uprisings” “all across California.”
