Marilyn Musgrave, It’s Time To Make A Phone Call

Marilyn Musgrave lost the congressional seat she’s held in Colorado’s 4th district since 2002, 56-44 percent.  But she has yet to concede or call her opponent, Congresswoman-elect Betsy Markey. Markey’s spokesperson, Ben Marter, said, “We would have appreciated a call.  But we’re moving forward.”

Musgrave is considered the most conservative member of the House with a 99 lifetime rating and a 100 rating for 2007 from the American Conservative Union.  She is best known as the main sponsor of the Federal Marriage Amendment that would have changed the Constitution to define marriage as being “the union of a man and a woman.”  And, in spite of being a devout Pentecostal and attempting to declare 2008 “The National Year of the Bible” calling on citizens of all faiths to “spread the timeless message of the Holy Scriptures,” she was declared by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) as one of the 13 most corrupt members of Congress in 2005, for “the misuse of official resources for political campaign activity and abuse of franking privileges,” something her office has denied.
