Then:

“[Alaska is] set up, unlike other states in the union, where it’s collectively Alaskans own the resources. So we share in the wealth when the development of these resources occurs.”

Now:

Senator Obama said he wants to quote spread the wealth. What that means is he wants government to take your money and dole it out however a politician sees fit. Barack Obama calls it spreading the wealth.” Palin said, “But Joe the Plumber and Ed the Dairy Man, I believe that they think that it sounds more like socialism. Friends, now is no time to experiment with socialism.

Yes, as Jed points out, Sarah Palin is a socialist.  She talked to Philip Gourevitch of The New Yorker a few weeks before her VP nomination about how Alaska practices collectivism and sharing the wealth.

The state that she governs has no income or sales tax. Instead, it imposes huge levies on the oil companies that lease its oil fields. The proceeds finance the government’s activities and enable it to issue a four-figure annual check to every man, woman, and child in the state. One of the reasons Palin has been a popular governor is that she added an extra twelve hundred dollars to this year’s check, bringing the per-person total to $3,269.

Hmm.  Collective owning of the resources; sharing the wealth; government checks to every man, woman and child in the state. Is Karl Marx listening?
