Now John McCain Is Using His Wife To Attack His Opponent

Cindy McCain took the gloves off Wednesday, harshly attacking Barack Obama with accusations that he doesn’t support our troops.

“I’m proud of my sons, but let me tell you, the day that Senator Obama decided to cast a vote to not fund my son when he was serving sent a cold chill through my body, let me tell you,” Mrs. McCain said to a chorus of boos from the roughly 7,000 people in attendance.

A day earlier in Tennessee, Mrs. McCain used  an appearance at a children’s hospital to accuse Obama of waging “the dirtiest campaign in American history.”

It is true that Obama voted against a 2007 war resolution because there was no timeline to get out of Iraq.  He voted for funding every other time. And President Bush vetoed a funding bill that contained a timeline, a veto urged by John McCain.  That must mean Bush and McCain hate the troops as much as Obama does.  And McCain voted against a funding bill that had a timeline attached to it.  He must really hate the troops.

For her part Cindy McCain really loves her family and wants you to know that they are a military, troop-loving family, unlike those anti-military, troop-hating Obamas.

“I would suggest that Senator Obama change shoes with me for just one day, and see what it means, and see what it means to have a loved one serving in the armed forces, and more importantly, serving in harms way.”

Mrs. McCain regularly mentions that she has two sons serving, and one who has served in Iraq. But this was the first time she addressed Obama’s vote on troop funding directly, and she did so with vigor.

But don’t forget, let’s leave the families of the candidates out of this race, okay?
