McCain Wants To Postpone Friday’s Debate

First, John McCain played the classic game of lowered expectations:

Three days before the first one-on-one presidential debate, Senator John McCain engaged in the classic political game of trying to lower expectations by praising his rival, Senator Barack Obama, for his verbal sparring skills.

“He’s very, very good,’’ Mr. McCain told a group of volunteers on Tuesday at Baldwin-Wallace College here. “He was able to beat Senator Hillary Clinton, who as we all know is very accomplished — very accomplished. And he was able to, I think, with his eloquence inspire a great number of Americans. So, these are going to be tough debates.’’

Then they were able to place tight restrictions on the vice presidential debate to protect the inexperienced Sarah Palin.

Now, McCain is “suspending” his campaign and urging a debate delay so “national leaders can come together at a time of crisis.”
