In the wake of the Republican smear concerning Obama’s use of the term “lipstick on a pig,” another smear launched by the McCain campaign this week has gone largely unnoticed.

A new McCain ad accuses Barack Obama of having no accomplishments on education other than promoting “comprehensive sex education” to kindergartners. The ad goes so far as to claim that Obama wants kids to be “learning about sex before learning to read.”

But as Sam Stein explains on The Huffington Post, the bill that Obama supported wasn’t about teaching kids where babies come from. It was about teaching kids to protect themselves from sexual predators:

Obama supported “age appropriate” sex-education for children as a means of teaching them what was proper or improper touching, as well as to protect them against pedophiles, his campaign has said.
