Evangelical Rejects Offer to Talk To Democrats

Did Jesus preach only to the choir? Cameron Strang, a young evangelical and editor of Relevant Magazine had accepted a invitation to deliver the benediction on the first night of the convention, but now he’s pulled out, fearing that delivering a prayer there would be construed as endorsing Democrats.

“Through Relevant, I reach a demographic that has strong faith morals and passion, but disagreements politically,” Strang wrote on his blog. “It wouldn’t be wise for me to be seen as picking a political side when I’ve consistently said both sides are right in some areas and wrong in some areas.”

Strang says he still doesn’t know for whom he’ll vote.  It’s a shame that he won’t accept Democratic outreach.
