What Does It Say When A Sitting VP Doesn’t Attend The GOP Convention?

It says plenty. For one thing, it shows that McCain can’t get far enough away from this administraiton, even as he touts some of its policies.  It certainly speaks to the popularity of Cheney.  If they could find a way to not have Bush appear, I bet they’d do that, too.

The conservative American Spectator is reporting that sources in Cheney’s office say he will not attend the convention.

McCain and Cheney famously do not get along, and with McCain’s focus being almost exclusively on attracting independents and women to the polls, it’s not a surprise that engaging Cheney isn’t on the top of his list.

According to CNN, this is an effort to “turn the page on the Bush-Cheney years.”  Of course, a much better way to turn the page on these years is to not vote for someone who will continue the war these people started, or their economic, environmental, health and energy policies.
