Let’s See McCain Get Out Of This One

McCain said Friday he wanted to reduce our dependence on Middle East oil “that will prevent us from having ever to send our young men and women into conflict again in the Middle East.”  Hours later, when he realized that he’d said we’re fighting the current Iraq war for oil, he then claimed, “No, no, I was talking about that we had fought the Gulf War for several reasons.”

If you look what he originally said, it’s clear he was talking about the current war.

McCain also had to recant remarks that last year’s Minneota bridge callpase was because of pork barrel spending.  On Wednesday, McCain said:

“I think there is a long, long list of earmarks which went to unnecessary and unwanted projects that I think should have gone to the bridge in Minnesota.”

But by Friday he was rewriting history:

“No, I said it would have received a higher priority, which it deserved.”
