The Gory Details

Here is the formal complaint against the call-girl ring allegedly used by New York governor Eliot Spitzer, via The New York Sun.

It indicates he spent $4,300 on a “pretty brunette, 5 feet, 5 inches, and 105 pounds.” At one point, he offered to go to an ATM to get more cash. One of the bookers for the service, a defendant in the case, testified that the client “would ask you to do things that, like, you might not think were safe – you know.”

So much for fiscal reponsibility…and, possibly, safe sex.

The criminal complaint describes phone calls intercepted by the FBI of several clients of the prostitution service. The men are only identified as clients one to nine.

The New York Times is reporting that client nine was Mr. Spitzer. The criminal complaint said that the liaison between client nine and a prostitute named Kristen occurred in Washington DC.

Turns out he bought her a train ticket to import her from New York to DC, a possible violation of the Mann Act, which is rarely enforced in such instances, and was implemented in 1910 to stop the forcible transportation of people who couldn’t defend themselves. Don’t you think a New York governor should do as much as possible to keep business inside his state?

Mr. Spitzer appears to have used the services of the Emperors Club before. While on the phone with a woman who booked engagements with prostitutes for Emperors Club, client nine discussed payment and said, “Yup, same as in the past” in answer to a question, according to the criminal complaint.

It’s comforting to use the same merchants regularly, where all you have to say is “the usual.”
