Welcome To The Guilt By Association Game

The Tennessee GOP is eating its words.  Yesterday it put out a press release called “Anti-Semites For Obama” which included the “dressed” photo of the senator in Somali garb.  Only, they referred to it as “Muslim garb.”  Today, they reissued their diatribe with a clarification. Oh, and they removed Obama’s middle name. Why? Because of a sudden flash of conscience? No, because the left would only use it to ignore the rest of what they’re saying.

*Clarification: This release originally referenced a photo of Sen. Obama and incorrectly termed it to be “”Muslim” garb. It is, in fact, Somali tribal garb, hence, we have deleted the photo. Also, in order to diffuse attempts by Democrats and the Left to divert attention from the main point of this release – that Sen. Obama has surrounded himself with advisers and received endorsements from people who are anti-Semitic and anti-Israel – we have deleted the use of Barack Obama’s middle name.

And here’s what they don’t retract, and what they were so concerned about the left ignoring:

On Sunday, Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan on Sunday likened Obama to a new messiah, calling him “the hope of the entire world.” That’s the same Louis Farrakhan who has a history of making openly anti-Semitic statements, calling Judaism a “gutter religion,” and suggesting that crack cocaine might have been a CIA plot to enslave blacks.

Of course they ignore that Obama has renoucned this endorsement, both at a meeting with Jewish leaders in Cleveland and in the February 26 debate.

The GOP is also linking Obama with Rashid Khalidi, who served on the board of an non-profit group that helps disadvantaged kids in Chicago alongside Obama, and who once held a fundraiser for him.

The co-founder of that organization, Columbia University professor Rashid Khalidi, who also has held a fundraiser for Obama, is a harsh critic of Israel and has made statements supportive of Palestinian terror. Khalidi reportedly has worked on behalf of the Palestine Liberation Organization while it was involved in anti-Western terrorism and was labeled by the State Department as a terror group.

And they associate Obama with William C. Ayers, of the Weathermen terrorist group which claimed responsiblity for a bombing at the Pentagon in 1971.  Here is the extent of the link between Obama and Ayers, as reported by the New York Sun:

He and Mr. Obama served together on the nine-member board of the Woods Fund, a Chicago nonprofit, for three years beginning in 1999, and they have also appeared jointly on two academic panels, one in 1997 and another in 2001. Mr. Ayers, who was never convicted in the Weather Underground bombings, is now a professor of education at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

And Ayers gave $200 to Obama when he was a state senator.  Obama spokesman Bill Burton noted the $200 contribution and that Ayers once worked for Chicago Mayor Richard Daley. Burton also said:

“Senator Obama strongly condemns the violent actions of the Weathermen group, as he does all acts of violence,” Mr. Burton said. “But he was an eight-year-old child when Ayers and the Weathermen were active, and any attempt to connect Obama with events of almost 40 years ago is ridiculous.”

Stay tuned for more Obama bashing. I understand Obama’s barber has a cousin whose step sister once dated a guy who bought used a car from a place whose owner goes to another barber whose brother once spoke out against Israel.
