Trump loses again: Puzder withdraws from Labor Sec’y nomination

UPDATE, 4:00pmEDT – MSNBC reports that they have confirmed that Andrew Puzder has withdrawn his name from nimonation for Labor Secretary. Huge loss for Donald Trump.

Donald Trump just keeps losing and losing. Senate Republicans can’t muster enough votes to get his Labor Secretary nominee approved.

A Capitol Hill hearing for Andrew Puzder, President Donald Trump’s choice for labor secretary, is expected to be canceled Thursday as expectations grow that he will drop out, a source told CNN Wednesday afternoon.

Top Senate Republicans have urged the White House to withdraw the Puzder nomination, a senior GOP source said, adding there are four firm Republican no votes and possibly up to 12.
Puzder needs at least 50 votes to pass with the tie-breaking vote of Vice President Mike Pence, and Republicans only hold control of 52 seats.

Puzder, the CEO of the company that owns the Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. fast food chains, has faced fierce opposition mostly from Democrats in part related to his position on labor issues as well as the fact that he employed an undocumented housekeeper.

As of 3:15pmEDT, MSNBC is reporting sources have told at least one of their reporters that that Puzder is likely to withdraw his name very soon.

Now what will he do, go to work for Carl’s Jr. or Hardee’s?

ONLY in an episode of “Undercover Boss, and if he does, it won’t be because he gives a d*mn about his employees but to try to change his public image.

In all seriousness, I think someone along the lines of Meg Whitman is about the best we could ever expect from this administration.

Nominate her and be done with it…

Is this all the winning we’re supposed to get tired of?

In a Cabinet that can only be called the worst of the worst, Puzder was a bottom feeder.
Why couldn’t this have happened to Betsy …?

Ugh, this should of been her!!! I think they let deplorables in his cabinet because they will give Congress the evidence needed for impeachment so pence can take over. He is there dream candidate and he would never of won an election on his own IMO.

Something is hanging in his closet…most likely it will be illegal hirings, skirting environmental regulations, worker safety violations, any number of things that if they come out, would hurt his business…Trump and everyone around him are lying scum, thieves and criminals, some of them are getting caught, finally.

The only regret I have with this news is that I won’t get more chances to refer to him by:

    Secretary Pustule!

Is anything getting done at the White House? California is still waiting for a decision on our request for federal disaster relief. Should anyone reading this be tempted to inject politics into this request, I would only point out that the Oroville dam that was at risk of failing is located in one of the few California counties that supported Trump. He carried Butte county by 4 points.

Wonder what those folks are thinking as Dear Leader twiddles his thumbs while they wait for urgently needed help.

I think trump is the last thing they’re thinking of at this time.

      • arc99 February 15th, 2017 at 19:34

I would wager that if Trump is the reason Butte county is not getting the help that we all know they need, he is playing prominently in their thoughts. I know some folks in Gridley. They personally did not have to evacuate, but they are wondering when the federal aid will come to help repair the damage.

He has to go around and do another deplorable tour, he will get back to you next week…..unless another drama occurs between now and then. BTW, drama definitely will happen, I know that much.

In a rare bout of sanity Andrew Puzder, withdrew his name for Labor Secretary. getting out now he will be considered one of the lucky ones

I don’t know what his problem is. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be a part of the most corrupt administration in American history. He really needs to think about this, it’s historic.
