Ted Cruz opens mouth, firmly inserts foot

Posted by | February 8, 2017 11:30 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

And to imagine, this guy styles himself as a super-genius constitutional lawyer!

Ted Cruz was ripped over social media after he congratulated a multiple sclerosis patient on her diagnosis during a debate on Obamacare Tuesday night.

The GOP Texas senator made the off-color comment after Maryland resident Carol Hardaway asked him how the Trump administration will ensure that she can continue to receive care for her multiple sclerosis, which Medicaid currently covers.

“Congratulations on dealing with MS, it’s a terrible disease and congratulations on your struggles dealing with it,” Cruz said after Hardaway told him that she was forced to move from the senator’s home state after it refused to expand Medicaid.

“Are you happy she is sick?” one Twitter user tweeted at Cruz.

Come on, it’s his first attempt at compassion, give him a break. You can’t expect total success right out of the box!

What do you expect when his own daughter can’t stand to be next to him?

Screw him, anyone arrogant enough to consider themselves a genius deserves to be criticized for every word that comes out of their mouth. I know you were being sarcastic, but I had to give my 2 cents lol.

    • Bunya February 8th, 2017 at 13:18

Ordinarily I’d give him a break, but I just couldn’t stand his reading of “Green Eggs and Ham”. It was pretty bad.

    • halfwayin February 8th, 2017 at 15:04

I too am looking for some “compassion”

I have been banned from Alan.com by mea-Mark for pointing out the fact that he voted for Stein.

      And he banned me,anothertoothpick.

I have been posting on this site for at least five years and have recieved hundreds of upvotesbut because I disagreed with a power hungry mod, my name is banned.

Any compassion or help from you Carla?

Frankly, I doubt you’re giving the full story.

      • bpollen February 8th, 2017 at 16:25

I detect a theme… And it ain’t making YOU look good.

        • mea_mark February 8th, 2017 at 17:29

I wasn’t going to delete his old comments but if he’s going to edit them, they just might start disappearing. I don’t play games when it comes to modding. Either your civil or you’re gone, if you circumvent the rules then everything goes.

I get the idea some on this site are thinking about jumping over to trump utopia I’m not defending people who loose respect for others but the mood is getting angry here

            Any thoughts ?

            • mea_mark February 8th, 2017 at 18:00

The left needs to unify around something positive that helps the people. Blaming others for their loss is unproductive and is just making them angrier. The democratic leadership is partially responsible for this. They still want to kiss the #$% of the oligarchy and the corporations. The longer they try to depend on anger against tRump and don’t find a positive message the worse it will get.

          • bpollen February 8th, 2017 at 19:31

Yeah, I don’t fault the mods here. Not because I am in fear of the ban hammer, but because I have seen no reason to fault them. And I know from experience that it is generally a thankless job.

halfwayin: I think you should find another forum to troll.

mea_mark: it’s your call, of course.

That is the current republican plan. They are playing the long game. As people are forced to move to states that have benefits required for them to SURVIVE the costs will rise in those states and fall in the states that kicked the sick out. Then they will point to that and say it proves Obamacare is a failure. It is a self fulfilling prophecy. Cut taxes and whine about the deficit and use that as a rationale to cut NEEDED spending to make up for the deficit the tax cuts caused.

We do not have a spending problem. We have a taxation problem. As a % of GDP we are taxing at historical post WWII lows. If we collected taxes at the same rate Saint Reagan did we would have a surplus. We collected 20.9% of GDP under Reagan and as low as 14.6% in 2009 and 2010 under Obama.

Boehner had called cruz “Lucifer in the flesh” and that fellow senator Lindsey Graham had said, “If you kill Ted Cruz on the senate floor, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody could convict you.

  4. Willys41 February 8th, 2017 at 15:08

Psychos like these right-wing “christian” fanatics like Cruz are always saying disgusting crap because they can’t empathize with normal people, much less express sympathy.

    • Bunya February 9th, 2017 at 15:11

That’s because they lack empathy. They don’t need it. Their pastor/priest/minister or whatever tells them who to hate and who to love. Some of the more popular hates are: Muslims, Jews, Atheists, gays and women.

I can imagine the greeting cards that Teddy sent to the survivors of 9/11:
“Congratulations on not dying! But to those who lost loved ones … I guess it sucks to be you.”

He has full medical coverage, so he does not see the issue

  7. Suzanne McFly February 8th, 2017 at 18:19

He is a pretzel at this point. I was hoping he would just stand up and remove his head out of his a$$, but now his foot in in there too? That HAS to be a tight squeeze.

      So, He’s a Bigly A$$. What’s New ? LOL :+)

    >> Hardaway told him that she was forced to move from the senator’s home state after it refused to expand Medicaid.

Oregon is flooded with these Red State Refugees. Being in the DHS waiting room is like being teleported to the South.

Now, I don’t mind the liberal ones. At least they are grateful.

But the conservative welfare migrants are the worst. They vote for “small government” conservatives in their home state and then come to Oregon when they need help. But then complain about our “big government.” and work to dismantle our liberal state!

  9. bpollen February 10th, 2017 at 05:47

Sanders gets the assist in that foot placement.
