DISASTER IN YEMEN: Botched military strike ordered by Trump was rejected by Obama

Posted by | February 2, 2017 09:00 | Filed under: War & Peace

Blood on the bungling, inept Donald’s hands:

Saturday’s Navy SEAL raid in Yemen — which resulted in the death of an 8-year-old American girl — had previously been rejected by former President Barack Obama, The Guardian reports. President Donald Trump approved of the raid in his first military strike as commander-in-chief:

[Colonel John] Thomas said he did not know why the prior administration did not authorize the operation, but said the Obama administration had effectively exercised a “pocket veto” over it.

A former official said the operation had been reviewed several times, but the underlying intelligence was not judged strong enough to justify the risks, and the case was left to the incoming Trump administration to make its own judgment.

More details at The Guardian:

The pre-dawn raid was plagued by trouble from the start. A tilt-rotor MV-22 transporting the commandos experienced a “hard landing” near the target location, and had to be destroyed.

Chief petty officer William “Ryan” Owens was killed in the raid and three other Navy Seals were wounded. On Wednesday, Trump flew to Dover air force base to pay respects as Owens’ body arrived back in the US for burial.

Defense secretary James Mattis, in a statement on Monday, said Owens “upheld the noblest standard of military service”.

Thomas said the JSOC mission was to extract information on AQAP from the target location, not to hunt terrorist suspects.

“The objective was not to kill anybody. We’re pretty good at doing that from the air,” Thomas said.

Typically, initial investigations to establish a sufficiently credible allegation of US-caused civilian deaths take approximately two weeks. Without a ground presence in Yemen, military investigators will have to use aerial imagery and other methods to determine whether a formal inquiry is merited.

Trump has instructed Mattis and military planners to present him with options for an intensified campaign against the Islamic State, al-Qaida and what Trump calls “radical Islamic terror”.

Translation: expect more dead special forces – and more dead children, which will translate into more anti-American propaganda and violent extremists’ “justification” for the murder of Americans.

I suppose this is all part of trump’s secret plan to defeat ISIS…he knows more than the generals…the stacking of innocent bodies on top of our Constitution, seems to be that secret plan…

Commander-In-Cheat Rump has as much qualification to be in that position as his 10 year old son does. He’s a bloviating buffoon taking the advice of a Nazi named Steve Bannon. Both need to go down hard and spend years in a super max federal prison for treason…

you’re absolutely right. and don’t forget war crimes should also be attached. this was so avoidable. the worse to come is that he’s going to continue to screw up and there will be multiple deaths. if anyone says to me “obama” i’m going to punch them in their damn throats. i’m saying this so that you a can gather money for my bail.

      • granpa.usthai February 3rd, 2017 at 00:01

no need for bail money. the recent actions of the orange fatass that lost the popular vote to Lady Clinton by 3,000,000 has show we can just ignore the courts!

I hear Guantanamo is STILL open…

I’d rather the Bully in Chief have a more difficult climate than Gitmo. Perhaps Siberia.

I’m in favor of sending his fatass to DPRK in pink panties as a goodwill gesture for a leader who answers the media manly, instead of like this 70 year old CRYBABY.

He actually warned us about this. Remember he said he gets military advise from “watching the shows”. http://www.youtube.com/embed/ciAL6tnEROQ

reminds me of a thought I had today….

is trump the dna missing link to a dog’s asshole?

I mean, I can see a lot of resemblance between his mouth and a dog’s asshole when he starts to lie. (er, uh -speak)

That changes my whole visual of the White House Situation Room!! Might be the reason for the blotched Yemen attack! And why Trump is trying to start a War with several Countries while alienating most of our allies with his offensive arrogant bullying???

      • William February 5th, 2017 at 16:30

Trump didn’t bother going to the situation room. He’s much to busy criticizing Arnolds apprenticeship ratings and having a meltdown over SNL skits.

        • dborah February 7th, 2017 at 20:41

Yes…the really important stuff! I feel like we are living in a twilight zone reality show!

  5. Jack E Raynbeau February 2nd, 2017 at 12:28

Will Gowdy and Cotboy be investigating Trump* in this situation?

    • Suzanne McFly February 2nd, 2017 at 15:48

I wish, it seems as long as they (the right) can control the SC noms, they will let rump do as he pleases.

  6. nola878 February 2nd, 2017 at 12:52

Rump wanted a quick strike and victory he could crow over, human lives be damned.

Have a feeling that the military, which usually leans Republican, will turn on the dangerous clown rather quickly.

    • Suzanne McFly February 2nd, 2017 at 15:47

I would like to share that belief, but some of (a majority) the military members believe republicans are the ones with the backbone. I try not to talk politics with my friends I served with, they are almost blind to what the right has done.

      • granpa.usthai February 3rd, 2017 at 00:07

that’s one good reason that republicans MUST be an active participant in future military adventures they approve of.

Hint: they may want to actually go to the foreign lands (could be safer for them).

        • Suzanne McFly February 3rd, 2017 at 07:37

They prefer to start the wars and not have to join in fighting them or paying for them. How many wars would be started if the person who signs on to start the war has to personally pay for it either through having their children join or have the money come directly from the military budget?

          • granpa.usthai February 3rd, 2017 at 23:46

            my point exactly.

  7. Bunya February 2nd, 2017 at 13:24

Really?? A disaster in Yemen? Now who could have seen this coming? tRump has also said that religious institutions should have a say in governmental policies. Great. We’ll have the pedophiles controlling women’s bodies. Unless the democrats grow a pair, we can look forward to 8 years of this sh*t.
    .
I am really, REALLY pissed. We used to be a country that other countries would look up to. Now that we have an embarrassing imbecile calling the shots, we don’t garner the respect we used to.

Wow, all these years I disliked him. I guess the phrase “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” is working.

      • arc99 February 2nd, 2017 at 17:05

To tell you the truth, I voted for him when he won re-election as governor here in California. I did not support the original recall that put him in office. But as the years went by, I certainly did enjoy the squirming of what remained of the California GOP as they realized, the Governator was basically a center-right Democrat and no friend of theirs on social issues.

When he ran for reelection, his Democratic opponent was career politician Phil Angelides. He was an uninteresting bureaucrat with no ideas and nothing to say. In the election, he barely carried Pelosi’s home district in San Francisco, which some might argue is ground zero of liberal America.

Yes Arnie has his faults. But these days, when it comes to Republicans, he is about as good as it gets.

        • Suzanne McFly February 2nd, 2017 at 17:50

I guess I fed in to the left wing hysteria about a Kennedy marrying a republican, and not to mention he cheated on her. I probably would of voted as you did considering who the democrat was and what he did/did not stand for, or I would of left that block blank.

        • The Original Just Me February 2nd, 2017 at 23:14

You voted for Him. I have heard your confession and you are forgiven of your sins , My Son. Now Damn It, Don’t let that Happen Again ! LOL :+)

    • StoneyCurtisll February 2nd, 2017 at 18:08

This seems to be nothing more than a publicity stunt by both Trump and Schwarzenegger.

  9. Mensa Member February 2nd, 2017 at 19:20

Trump and his people are such weasels.

They crow about his strong leadership — unless something goes wrong. Then they blame Obama.
