Sanders: Trump tried to ‘delegitimize the presidency of our first African-American president’

He is the one who pushed the birther movement, lest we forget.

We all remember that Trump was one of the leaders of the so-called birther movement trying to delegitimize the presidency of our first African-American President Barack Obama, which is an outrage.

So, I think right now, the focus has got to be on how we hold Trump accountable. What has been doing in the last week, attacking Hollywood actresses for criticizing him, I mean what would is this guy living in?

But right now what my job is, and I think the job of Democrats and Republicans, is to protect the middle class and working families of this country from some devastating ideas that Trump has proposed.

Thank you Sen. Sanders. In my perfect world, you would be the person being sworn in next Friday on the steps of the US Capitol.

At least, you have put into very plain language the reason why I have zero tolerance for anyone whining about “delegitimizing” the Trump Presidency. Anyone who makes that claim either on the Sunday talk shows, or in forums like this one, or anywhere else for that matter is a full of sh*t hypocrite.

Donald Trump did everything he could to attempt to delegitimize Mr. Obama’s Presidency as he appealed to the bigots who insisted that the President was Constitutionally ineligible. Then when it became clear, it was to his political advantage to drop the charade, in typically gutless fashion, unable to take responsibility for the ignorance he championed, his staff blamed Hillary for the birther nonsense.

I stand with Congressman Lewis. Trump is not a legitimate President of the United States. No legitimate President lies about having “investigators” with “unbelievable findings”. Yes the Presidency of Donald Trump has already been delegitimized, and no one other than Donald Trump is responsible.

Problem is, he’s not being held accountable. In the republican world, only “liberals” and Democrats are held accountable for imagined crimes. Especially Barack Obama for PWB (Presidenting While Black).

I’ve never seen such an aberration as this presidency in a first world country. We would have to go back to Europe in the thirties of last century to find a somewhat similar one.
