    He’s not such a hero to a lot of people, including a lot of Catholics. He just confirmed that women will not be ordained in the foreseeable future. He says they can become deacons, as if that makes up for it. I don’t really care, because I found plenty of reasons to leave the church. But it makes a difference to a lot of people. Ordaining women and allowing priests to marry would eliminate the shortage of priests, and go a long way toward solving the pedophilia problem. And if you’re a married Catholic, and you need counseling, would you seriously consider going to a priest?
