Some Carrier jobs Trump ‘saved’ to be replaced with automation

Once again, we find out how much more of a sham was the Carrier deal.

United Technologies, Carrier’s corporate parent, is admitting its $16 million investment in the facility may ultimately replace some jobs with automation, CNBC said Friday.

“We’re going to…automate to drive the cost down so that we can continue to be competitive,” United Technologies CEO Greg Hayes said in a CNBC interview earlier this week. “Is it as cheap as moving to Mexico with lower cost labor? No.

“But we will make that plant competitive just because we’ll make the capital investments there. But what that ultimately means is there will be fewer jobs.”

And wait till this incompetent fool goes head to head against world leaders.
Get ready for an ass woopin’ America, cause this idiot fancies himself a great negotiator and just got taken to the cleaners by subsidiary company based in the US.

Ultimately the only real solution is going to be a #basicincome. Automation is coming and it isn’t going to stop. Will the orange one realize this and work in that direction? I doubt it. I fear America is going to have to crash and burn before it will accept the reality that we are going to have to take care of the people while the machines do most of the work. The people working is no longer going to be the back bone that carries America. Innovation and the arts is the future, supported by a universal basic income.

That sounds suspiciously like socialism to me.

It may be, but that is probably what will save us. It’s a new world and we need a different approach if we are to survive and thrive.

We can all work at 7-11 and McDonald’s.

Nope, they will be replaced by Amazon Go fully automated stores.

I saw that. I like self-checkout, but that would take a little getting used to. And a machine can’t ask you “Would you like fries with that?” with the same feeling as a human.

When i go to the grocery store, I ask the cashiers what they think of the self-checkouts and they hate them since they know they will be replaced by them someday!

But it will be a while, because there are still a lot of people who don’t like using them. And I can’t see running a really large order through one. They’re okay for a few things, but if you have a bulging cart, most people will go to a human. That’s been my experience anyway.

Well, I know people won’t like them since if you have alcohol you are not allowed to use them! Alcohol is saving jobs! Haha!

At the ones here, you can check alcohol, but an attendant has to approve it, and check ID if necessary.

Trump is swimming with the big fish, now, and he got totally took.

Developers like him are used to working with city councils and local officials who are easily cowed.

So, expect a lot of really bad deals with America not that Trump is facing some real opponents.

Remember when the republicans laughed at Obama when he said technology is going to kill jobs!

Some of them still think coal is coming back.
