‘Xenophobia’ is word of the year

Click here for reuse options!The website made the announcement in a Monday statement, where they explored the term’s Greek roots and the history of it’s entrance into the public lexicon.
Dictionary.com has two ways of defining “xenophobia.” The first is: “fear or hatred of foreigners, people from different cultures, or strangers.” The second definition is: “fear or dislike of the customs, dress, etc., of people who are culturally different from oneself.”
The site said that the term received major interest months ago, when the “Brexit” movement succeeded and the United Kingdom elected to withdraw from the European Union. This was supposedly connected to searches in the term “hate crime,” and reports have suggested that xenophobia and prejudice were motivating factors among certain pro-Brexit voters.
Dictionary.com said that “xenophobia” searches spiked again when President Obama was speaking against Donald Trump during the election.

It is simply fear of “the other.”You are,the other to someone also.I am the other to someone else.A stranger is only a stranger,until they become a friend.Your friends were once strangers,until they became your friends.It is an irrational fear,yet also one that has its roots in the old brain,the cave man days,when the other “tribe” was feared because they might eat you for lunch.An ancient fear,impulse,that becomes less of a factor with intelligence and acceptance.Living in a segregated society makes fear of the other more prominent,integration makes it less so.

No, court-ordered, forced integration made things worse for everyone. It destroyed communities in the process. If you need data and proof, I have it, but I think that you will reject any logic or facts that do not align with Politically Correct dogma.
