Weiner’s laptop may contain 650K emails

Posted by | October 30, 2016 17:32 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

That’s what the Wall Street Journal is reporting.

“Federal agents are preparing to scour roughly 650,000 emails contained on the laptop of former Rep. Anthony Weiner to see how many relate to a prior probe of Hillary Clinton’s email use, as metadata on the device suggests there may be thousands sent to or from the private server that the Democratic nominee used while she was secretary of state,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

“The review will take weeks at a minimum to determine whether those messages are work-related emails between Huma Abedin, a close Clinton aide and the estranged wife of Mr. Weiner, and State Department officials; how many are duplicates of emails already reviewed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation; and whether they include either classified information or important new evidence in the Clinton email probe.”

    Sounds pretty serious.

I wonder what we’re going to find in there?

Hillary was pretty confident that the 35k emails she bleach-bitted from that server were gone… .

“The Russians put them on that laptop!!!”

Prepare for this to be the comical talking point paraded out next week

    • bpollen October 30th, 2016 at 18:31

“The Russians put them on that laptop!!!”

So you are the FIRST to float it… shows a lot about YOU, but not about this issue.

Yeah, I don’t either. I would rather go in the yard and pick up puppy poop, much better use of my time IMO.

Nope. A Democrat congressman attempted to float that balloon yesterday…..

        That’s where I heard that.

But you watch and see, their will be other Democrats making that claim by weeks end….

Thank you, Kreskin. With your amazing powers of prognostication, why haven’t you won the lottery?

Hillary is going to jail. I was trying to figure out why her aide would send emails to herself over her husband’s computer. Then it dawned on me, Hillary’s server would keep emails from being archived and bleaching them would definitely remove them from any scrutiny. Huma was clearly aware of that, but by sending them to herself, she established a record that could not be erased. Thus, the emails would be in the Microsoft cloud or similar for Apple. Now, why would she do that? She states it was to facilitate printing. Why does she need to print them, especially all 30,000. And, she would have been required to give those papers to the FBI months ago or provide evidence of their safe destruction (I have to do this for medical records).

So, why keep the emails? It is clear that this was Uma’s get out of jail card. This was her little hide that would be used to negotiate her position in the future if a really true criminal case was developed. But the FBI stumbled upon it. These emails will have the dirt on Hillary and the foundation. It is what the public has been trying to get for years and what Hillary has been trying to hide, as well as Obama and Justice.

What does this mean? Hillary is going to jail (I am doing my happy dance). She might be elected as we have very stupid people in our country, but immediately a special prosecutor will be arranged, and she will go to jail. Her crimes are so extensive that I don’t think Obama can pardon her, and that may mean that Obama will be looking at time as well, and even Lynch. If Trump gets in, then he can use this as a spring board to clean house of both the Republicans and Democrats.

    • Suzanne McFly October 30th, 2016 at 18:14

The truth “dawned” on you? Who the hell are you? What kind of security clearance do you have? How do you know what Hillary was thinking? Nice of you to display your ignorance, and thanks for that but go take your meds, you’re way past due.

    • bpollen October 30th, 2016 at 18:30

Seems you have no idea what you are talking about.
Ever dealt with Gubmint computer systems? Ever wanted an email IN HAND for reference? Do you get majorly important information (on top of all the OTHER important information you get CONSTANTLY on your job) that is ONLY on email? Were you ever an aide to an appointed administration official? Have to be directly involved in foreign relations?

Personally, judging by your “truth,” I would say that your grasp of the reality of working in a national administration could be summed up thusly – “Ding, fries are done.”

      “Hillary is going to jail.”
One arrest at a time. We STILL haven’t seen the impeachment of Barack Obama for being a Kenyan-born, commie, socialist, member of the Muslim Brotherhood whose main objective when he took office was to “take yer guns” and build those “death panels”.

    • Suzanne McFly October 30th, 2016 at 18:41

I admit, when I read this headline I had to wonder if I had a weiner if it would get 5 emails, why does his get 650k? It seems a bit much lol.

  5. Robert M. Snyder October 30th, 2016 at 18:54

    Let’s do the Math:

Let’s assume that the e-mails piled up over an 8-year period. There are 2,922 days in eight years.

    650,000 e-mails / 2,922 days = 222 e-mails per day!

A spell checker might conclude that Huma is not quite Human!

“Within hours it was discovered that these emails were not from or to Hillary Clinton and were not on her server or on any of her devices.”-FBI Dir Comey’s Hatch act violations are obvious. • trees October 30th, 2016 at 19:28

The source said an analysis of the metadata on Weiner’s computer has turned up “positive hits for state.gov and HRC emails,” which led Comey to revisit the FBI investigation into Clinton using a private email server system while secretary of state. A second law enforcement source confirmed the account.

      • Obewon October 30th, 2016 at 19:43

Comprehension was never your forte: “Within hours it was discovered that these emails were not from or to Hillary Clinton and were not on her server or on any of her devices.”

        • trees October 30th, 2016 at 20:07

“were not from or to Hillary Clinton and were not on her server or on any of her devices.”

My source says otherwise. Ask yourself this, if there are no HRC emails on that device then why would the FBI issue the statement to the contrary? A warrant has been granted, the criminal investigation proceeds…

          • Obewon October 30th, 2016 at 20:09

Simple. Why are FBI Dir Comey’s Hatch act violations so obvious?

          • bpollen October 30th, 2016 at 23:44

What part of “Hatch Act” confuses you?

“Ask yourself this, if there are no HRC emails on that device then why would the FBI issue the statement to the contrary?”

That’s what the whole Hatch Act talk refers to. Partisan politics by a federal employee SPECIFICALLY prohibited from doing so. I didn’t have to ask myself that because I can READ.

The actual text of the letter Comey sent to Congress states:
“In connection with an unrelated case, the FBI has learned of the existence of emails that APPEAR to be PERTINENT to the investigation.”
            (My bolding and caps)

So, the actual statement does NOT support your interpretation, based on the actual WORDS.

        • trees October 30th, 2016 at 20:09

Who’s you source? Left wing extremist Jason Easley??

          Lol…

      • William October 30th, 2016 at 22:25

One of the fundamental principals of our legal system is this. There are no “a source or some guy”. Any and all evidence is only evidence when the sources are identified and testify under oath as to who they are and what they know. That “some guy, many people, and some people say” crap only works on Fox fed Trumpanzees.

    • burqa October 31st, 2016 at 00:17

      Hatch Act?
Isn’t that the one where you take an underage woman across state lines……
……no, wait. That’s the Mann Act.

      never mind.

And as they “scour” through 650,000 emails,we face the most serious problems internationally and domestically that the world has seen in a long time. The Repubs are playing this for all its worth.Whatever is found,or most likely not found, she remains the only candidate capable of the office. Its all a distraction that came up at the worst possible time.

  10. burqa October 31st, 2016 at 00:15

    650,000?

That seems a bit excessive to me for anyone to have.

But, But, But, before they can conclude anything they will have to check the emails of every government employee who may or may not have had a possible reason to communicate with Mrs. Clinton. At best count, that’s 348 trillion.
There’s a weird maladie going around the web and it’s the fault of………….secrecy maybe?

  14. Duke Woolworth October 31st, 2016 at 08:14

I’m betting that there are a couple of extra zeroes in the 650k figure. Just figuring the time it would take to read and digest the larger number would take decades.

    • Mensa Member October 31st, 2016 at 09:43

60 million emails on one laptop computer? Why would you think that?

      • Duke Woolworth November 1st, 2016 at 15:05

Try thousands, not millions. Either way, an awful lot of messages to read, keep, or delete in a day.

  15. Mensa Member October 31st, 2016 at 09:41

How many of these were junk emails?

Trump rages endlessly about the thousands of emails Hillary supposedly deleted.

I have deleted thousands of emails. I have no idea how many — I never bothered to even read them.

I’ll guess that this is true for you, too. And Trump.

  16. Duke Woolworth October 31st, 2016 at 20:45

My feeble math: At one minute per email, with a full 8 hour workday, it would take nine years to read them all.
My understanding was that this was a “public” free email system like yahoo. The mailbox would have been marked full many messages earlier.

    • robert November 1st, 2016 at 01:42

The way I understand it works, the feds start by entering key words and document #s then a super computer can quickly search. The process should only take a week to find any disqualifying info if any

      • Duke Woolworth November 1st, 2016 at 07:04

Okay, how long will it take to enter/process all those emails? I say the number is of by a ton.
