Liberty U students upset with Falwell for Trump association

Posted by | October 13, 2016 09:44 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics Religion

Students at Liberty University don’t like their school’s support for Trump.

Jerry Falwell Jr., the president of Liberty University, the largest Christian university in the U.S., supports Trump, but many students don’t want to be associated with the presidential nominee. “In the months since Jerry Falwell Jr. endorsed him, Donald Trump has been inexorably associated with Liberty University. We are Liberty students who are disappointed with President Falwell’s endorsement and are tired of being associated with one of the worst presidential candidates in American history,” the student organization Liberty United Against Trump wrote in a statement Wednesday.

“A majority of Liberty students, faculty and staff feel as we do. Nevertheless, President Falwell eagerly uses his national platform to advocate for Donald Trump,” the statement read.

“Associating any politician with Christianity is damaging to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. But Donald Trump is not just any politician. He has made his name by maligning others and bragging about his sins. Not only is Donald Trump a bad candidate for president, he is actively promoting the very things that we are Christians ought to oppose.”

So can you vote for Clinton as a Christian? I can’t.

    • Mensa Member October 13th, 2016 at 10:06

Clinton is a lifelong, devout Christian.

Why can’t you vote for her?

    • fahvel October 13th, 2016 at 10:11

your comment alone is that of a blind person – as an xian you should be able to separate your fantasy world from the world of substance because your faith isn’t going to feed the children –

      • granpa.usthai October 13th, 2016 at 13:55

neither will it protect her p*ssy from being grabbed!

oh! – in a religious way of course!

(perhaps while holding up a ‘family bible’ in one tiny hand)

        • Bunya October 13th, 2016 at 16:54

Just remember, Trump is grabbing p*ssy in Jesus’ name, of course.

    • Um Cara October 13th, 2016 at 10:11

I don’t remember any commandment saying ‘Though shalt not vote for the most qualified candidate’. Of course many Christians will vote for their fellow Christian, Hillary Clinton.

      • granpa.usthai October 13th, 2016 at 13:43

those of other faiths and or no faiths who respect human dignity and decency will also.

    • oldfart October 13th, 2016 at 11:03

Ask yourself, who would jesus vote for ?

      • Kick Frenzy October 13th, 2016 at 13:35

        (Answer: Bernie Sanders)

        • oldfart October 13th, 2016 at 13:40

          ..Well, he IS Jewish… ;)

        • granpa.usthai October 13th, 2016 at 13:42

Jesus would vote for the candidate who was actually in the running with the capability of defeating a tiny hand money grubbing p*ssy graber! – of that there is no doubt!

      Is it the email thing?

    • Red Mann October 13th, 2016 at 15:48

      Sorry for you, but:
From Article 6 of the US Constitution.
“The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States

As a former bible school student, I can say that most of them aren’t as jaded as their leaders.

    That seems to come later.

usually starts coinciding with the MONEY flow.

My neighbor is a devout Christian and she wants to vote for Clinton, but
she said that her religious believes did not allow her to think about
voting for a woman because a man is better than a woman no matter what.
she is however ready to commit a sin and vote for Clinton because she
can no longer accept his assault on women. she was willing to overlook
the fact that he has no experience and all, but him assaulting young
women is a no no to her as a woman. I love my neighbor but she still
believes that God made her from Adam’s rib literally and that is why a man is better than a woman. I was wondering if that is a believe among Christians or just hers?
A Man is better than a woman?

    • anothertoothpick October 13th, 2016 at 12:28

And don’t forget it was eve that convinced Adam how delicious those apples were.

Sometimes I think that this is the fundamental reason Xians use to blame woman for all the sins of the world..

      • spacegod October 13th, 2016 at 13:15

        You would be correct.

      • bunya October 13th, 2016 at 13:17

You think? That IS the fundamental reason Christians blame women for all the evils of the world. If Eve hadn’t held a gun to Adams head, forcing him to take a bite of the forbidden apple or she’d blow his f*ckin’ head off, women today would be treated as equals.

        • Larry Schmitt October 13th, 2016 at 13:22

She was a dues paying member of the ERA (Eden Rifle Association).

        • anothertoothpick October 13th, 2016 at 13:39

Right. Or maybe it was the talking snake?

      • granpa.usthai October 13th, 2016 at 13:39

and Adam’s masculine appendage did awaken Adam and said

“forget about this God dude , take a bite and grab Eve by the p*ssy”.

and lo, donnie doth become a p*ssy grabbing ‘christian’.

        ?

        • anothertoothpick October 13th, 2016 at 13:39

          The gospel according to trump.

          • granpa.usthai October 13th, 2016 at 13:45

AMEN! -line up the women folk for a real reviving like no other!

            • anothertoothpick October 13th, 2016 at 13:46

              Let us PREY!

              • granpa.usthai October 13th, 2016 at 13:52

gives thankfulness a whole new ‘christian’ meaning.

BTW: any of the anti American trump deplorables explained how grabbing a p*ssy while wearing mixed trump imported spontaneous combustible clothing is going to “make America greater’ through religious piety?

                • anothertoothpick October 13th, 2016 at 13:55

I don’t know. Do ya think it’s got anything to do with the infidels?

                  • granpa.usthai October 13th, 2016 at 13:57

most likely. Infidels are notorious for grabbing p*ssies at want.

                    • anothertoothpick October 13th, 2016 at 14:02

                      Yeah….that’s what I thought too

    • granpa.usthai October 13th, 2016 at 13:35

your neighbor may be a devout religious person, but Jesus never taught that men were superior to women, so I doubt very much she is following Jesus as much as she is her religious leadership.

      ref: Gen: 1:27

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female created he them.

seems to be 50-50 to me.

BTW: who would have ever thought of God as being bi-gender?

    • Kick Frenzy October 13th, 2016 at 13:44

      According to the Bible:

      – Woman was created for man.
      – A woman is supposed to submit to and honor her husband.
      – God only talked to Adam, Eve had no direct contact.
      – “For a man is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man.” 1 Corinthians 11:7

And those are some examples of why some Christian women feel females are out of place as the head of anything.

      • anothertoothpick October 13th, 2016 at 13:50

This is my problem with religion.

There always someone lesser that needs to be straightened out.

We don’t want religion of any kind in our body politic.

        • Kick Frenzy October 13th, 2016 at 15:00

If there’s anything most religions agree on, it’s that women should be subject to whatever men want.

Then there’s common decency and logic which tells us that’s a bunch of malarkey.

        • bpollen October 14th, 2016 at 04:16

It’s like the whole religion thing is a race (never ending, it seems) and each team thinks their specific car is the only one that could possibly make it to the end of the race. A few go on about their business regardless of the traffic, some do everything in their power to get ahead of the others, and then some feel that their opponents are conspiring against them and they HAVE to destroy the other racers.

I see this incredibly wide highway with enough lanes for everyone. I think that makes me a heretic in most religions.

      • The Original Just Me October 13th, 2016 at 16:27

Uh , check about Eve being asked questions by God in the Garden of Eden.

        • Kick Frenzy October 13th, 2016 at 17:50

          Oops, yeah… you’re right.
I jumped the gun on that one.

          Good lookin out!

          • The Original Just Me October 14th, 2016 at 11:04

I just remember that Eve ate of the Fruit of the Tree of Knowledge. That means she was the first woman to ever start thinking. Since then, neither God nor Man has been able to get along with them. HA HA It is only a Joke. That is My Disclaimer. You have to be careful now days. :+)

  4. Larry Schmitt October 13th, 2016 at 13:22

If they can see that, with as little life experience as they have, why can’t the so-called “leaders” of the university?

  5. Guy Lauten October 13th, 2016 at 13:28

“President Falwell eagerly uses his national platform to advocate for Donald Trump,”
“President” Falwell should look up the definition of the Sin of Pride.

    • Larry Schmitt October 13th, 2016 at 13:31

And greed. And bearing false witness.

      • Red Mann October 13th, 2016 at 15:55

And adultery. He also has most of the Seven Deadly Sins covered as well.

    • StoneyCurtisll October 13th, 2016 at 19:52

      And coveting your neighbors wife…

      • Guy Lauten October 13th, 2016 at 22:27

You are all correct in that Mr. Falwell the Younger has worked a rather large panoply of the Deadlies, however I still believe all those others stem from his original sin of Pride. Like so many of today’s “evangelicals”, in his soul he exalts himself above others and considers himself superior to his brother and sister. In his mind he has a superior moral knowledge and direction. His candidate – the alleged unregistered sex offender – is of the same ilk. This exalted state gives them excuse to commit what would be sins for the rest of us, but for which they are to be excused because they are “doing it for everybody’s good”.
If that ain’t Pride aka Hubris – then I don’t know what is.
