Putin fans ignore his persecution of Christians

They’re happy he persecutes gays, and ignore his persecution of Christians.

Pastors thrown in jail. Religious texts criminalized. Evangelism outlawed.

These are all events that Religious Right activists— inaccurately —predicted would happen during President Obama’s time in office. But sadly, these are acts that are all too common around the world.

Most recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin has stepped up his attacks on Christians who belong to denominations other than the Russian Orthodox Church, particularly Protestants, Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Last month, Putin signed a law curtailing evangelism under the guise of combating “extremism,” a decision that is part of a broader trend of Putin’s government clamping down on dissidents, journalists, human rights activists and the LGBT community.

Even before this new law came into effect, religious minorities in Russia and Russian-controlled parts of Ukraine faced not only legal persecution but also violent attacks, including abductions and killings, from government-backed militias. Since the law was signed, state-sponsored attacks on religious minorities have only increased.

But none of this has stopped Putin’s American fans from singing his praises, even while they claim that President Obama has made the U.S. dangerous for Christians.

Every thing Putin does, they accuse Obama of doing.

These people are seriously f*cked up.

And then say Putin would be a better President, a real leader, not like the weak Obama. The irony is strong enough to shift the magnetic poles.

American Christianity, especially the evangelical breed,do not realize how out of touch with reality they have become. They think it’s persecution concerning the silly Christmas issue, while Christians in Russia and Communist China are being imprisoned, murdered, and worshipping in secret.Thats persecution. That real persecution will never happen in America,as long as we retain the principles of the constitution, and no president would violate such.

When the Xtian right got on board with Donald Trump it showed you just how deep their religious convictions were – about 1 millimeter – then you get to the money, and that runs very very deep in their veins.

I know one individual who supports Trump solely on the grounds of opposing abortion. No other issue matters to him.

Does the person realize he was once for it?

They will only claim this (persecution of Christians) is a problem when it suits them.
