Ryan struggles to defend Trump

Paul Ryan has the thankless task of being Speaker of the House while Donald Trump is running for president.

At an NBC forum Wednesday, Trump cited Putin’s high approval ratings and said he’s more of a leader than Barack Obama.

Ryan took the opposite approach at a Thursday press conference, calling Putin an adversary and “an aggressor that does not share our interests.”

Ryan was asked repeatedly asked about Trump’s comments.

“He praised Vladimir Putin and said that he’s a better leader than the United States. Do you still think Hillary Clinton is the worst thing that can happen?” one reporter asked.

At the press conference, Ryan refused to comment on the presidential race. “You think I’m going to stand up here and be an election pundit? I’ve got other things to do,” he said.

When asked if he still feels comfortable voting for Trump, Ryan again refused to comment.

“I’ll leave it at that,” he said.

    All Ryan, McConnell other high ranking republicans need to do to stop the madness that Trump brings to them daily is to disavow him. State that he not fit and unqualified to be President. Their Trump problem will not go away unless and until his support does.

      That’s the problem … Trump has hijacked the base right out from under them.
      Their only hope for the down ballots now is to try and catch a little of the trump wave.

    There’s no way Ryan comes back from any of this nonsense. When this thing is done he loses no matter who wins … The Teabaggers will toss him.
    He might have to actually get a real job instead of continuing to suck from the government teet.
