Gingrich now says we shouldn’t deport Muslims who are American citizens

Posted by | July 15, 2016 17:57 | Filed under: Politics

It seemed clear Thursday night that Newt Gingrich was calling for a Sharia law “test” to see if Muslims could stay in the country. He seemed to backtrack Friday.

Gingrich’s original comments on Fox News’ Hannity seemed to be fairly cut and dry: “We should, frankly, test every person here who is of a Muslim background, and if they believe in sharia, they should be deported,” he said following the terrorist attack in Nice, France.

But Gingrich accused the news media in a Facebook Live event of “going into a hysteria overnight in trying to grossly exaggerate what I was saying. If you are a practicing Muslim and you believe deeply in your faith, but you’re also loyal to the United States and you believe in the Constitution, you should have your rights totally, completely protected within the Constitution.”

“Now with an American citizen, deportation is impossible,” he said. “It’s not appropriate under the Constitution. And there historically, we’ve always said if you fought against the United States, the correct answers were basically jail instead of deportation.”

But who’s his role model? Surely not any of the GOP.

Good point…those guys change position more often than a wind vane in a hurricane.

    Dementia is a terrible thing.
I’m afraid he might have suffered the effects for years.

Apparently flip-flopping only counts if you’re a Democrat.

Jumping onto the Trump clown bus , maybe wants to be the point man for moronic ideas

I just love after having something I clearly heard with my own ears, or have read with my own eyes, being told that it what grossly over-exaggerated in the media and that that is not what was said.
And frankly, I’m so glad I won’t have to hear him say “frankly” anymore. Does he have to say that word in frankly every f-g thing he says?

    • nola878 July 15th, 2016 at 19:47

      Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn. :)

ps betcha the ban hammer would have smacked me for that in1939!

I’m not surprised that Newt did this because when he was running for POTUS in 2012, he said on Fox News that he reserved the right to deny things he’s said on previous occasions. He said exactly what he meant on Fox yesterday, that all Muslims living in America should be deported, and today he’s denying he meant what he said. Guy’s a 1st Class panderer, liar and con artist.

Thanks for the jarring of my memory. I remember that!

Frankly, my dear, you shouldn’t give a damn. ;-)

      • mistlesuede July 15th, 2016 at 23:06

Frankly, I shouldn’t, but I can’t help it. It’s frankly just one of those things that annoys me.

I think the “mute” button is the one most used on my remote.

          • mistlesuede July 15th, 2016 at 23:42

You and me both. I’m surprised mine is still working. It gets a rest from the return button being used to change the channel to whatever was there before constantly to avoid so much.
The off button is next to go.

            • Nobody's Miracle (MagnaDave) July 15th, 2016 at 23:52

Same here. What gets me is that I honestly think that the networks have agreed to show commercials at the exact same times so, if you switch from one channel to avoid a commercial, you get other one. That seems to happen a lot, anyway.

I also think that people who produce cellphone and car commercials Google “Worst Song, Ever” and decide that it’s perfect for their products.

              • mistlesuede July 16th, 2016 at 00:01

Absolutely. They are in cahoots against the people. I just tried to think of any cellphone or car commercials and their music. Can’t think of any. But, I don’t watch much. I do have a favorite commercial that I think is for a car. The one with the little blonde boy recounting his experiences driving the big car when he pulls up in one of those battery operated kid cars and talks to his dad. I love how he says “You’re killing me” when he is stuck in traffic and how he reacts when he gets a parking ticket.
                Just too cute.

                • Nobody's Miracle (MagnaDave) July 16th, 2016 at 00:06

That one’s pretty cute. I like the ones for Sonic. The ones with the talking wheel of cheese and the guy in the lab coat, too. They’re just so silly.

I really hated the ones with from Liberty Mutual where people tell me stories about my car and me that never happened. Then along came the one with the slightly unhinged lady who finishes off with “Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.” That one cracks me up every time.

                  • mistlesuede July 16th, 2016 at 09:44

The only ones you mentioned that I’ve paid attention enough to think I know are Liberty Mutual. As for car insurance ones, the only one I like includes another child. Are you noticing a theme?

“…loyal to the United States and you believe in the Constitution, you
should have your rights totally, completely protected within the
Constitution.”” i am always amazed at how they let words like this roll off their tongues and past their lips. these parasites don’t give a damn about the constitution and clearly they don’t give a damn about the united states. case in point:

Republican leaders said they want the President to fail:

Republicans want Obama to fail more than they want America to succeed.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell: “The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.”

Rush Limbaugh: “I hope he fails.”

Tea Party favorite Rep. Michele Bachmann: “we’re hoping that President Obama’s policies don’t succeed.”

Washington Republicans tried to kill over 7 million jobs.

When asked about the potential for more job losses, Speaker John Boehner said, “so be it.”

They threatened to shut down our government, which would have cost our economy billions.

They brought our nation to the brink of default by threatening not to pay America’s bills, and say they’ll do it again — even though the default crisis by itself almost derailed the recovery.

Their political brinkmanship brought us the Tea Party Downgrade, the first-ever downgrade of America’s perfect credit rating.

They didn’t even want the Federal Reserve to consider intervening to help our struggling economy.

Let’s remember — a month into his presidency, they refused to help our economy recover.

They unified in voting against the President’s American Jobs Act,
which would create 2 million jobs, even though it’s based on proposals
they have supported in the past.

I haven’t changed my mind in 5 years as many times as the republican party leaders have in the past 2 days.

in the con don’s case, he’s probably broke the record when he did it in less than 10 mins. one phone call interview he said one thing and then in the next phone interview, in 10 mins time, he said just the opposite. he lies so much he can’t remember a lie he just said so that he can repeat it. now that’s bad.
