Texas governor suffers severe burns

Posted by | July 11, 2016 08:01 | Filed under: Politics

Texas Governor Greg Abbott was severely scalded and may miss the Republican convention.

[He] sustained “extensive second- and third-degree burns” on both legs below the knees and both feet – and may miss next week’s Republican National Convention as a result, his office said Sunday.

Spokesman Matt Hirsch said Abbott was with his family in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, on Thursday when he was scalded in an accident involving hot water. He declined to provide further details.

The governor was treated for several hours at nearby St. John’s Medical Center.

While Abbot is a despicable human being, it still is horrible that he has become a burn victim. The treatment is going to be beyond painful.

It’s his legs. since he has a broken back he has no feeling from the waist down (or the waist up either for that matter)

So? Those kinds of burns are nothing to sneer at. And if a person with paralysis cannot feel the burn pain, then they are even more at risk for secondary and tertiary complications from the burn injuries. I loathe the son of a bitch politically, but fuck, I’m not so inhumane as to dismiss the injury as casually as you. Oh, “It’s his legs. since he has a broken back he has no feeling from the waist down..”

Seriously, this could be life threatening if it’s bad enough. I had a cousin who was a paraplegic who got second/third degree burns when he dropped a match in his lap while smoking. He spent weeks hospitalized and died of septic infection. Just imagine- Dan Patrick becoming governor of Texas?

Shuddering at the thought of Dan Patrick ascending to the governorship. Yuck. My kid brother managed to get scalded across his shoulders and back when he was three and his blisters were horrible and the debridement treatments were horrible for him to endure.

His legs are useless. They will amputate them if there is any risk. I am afraid we are stuck with Abbott.

I guess it is a sign of the times.

Anything to avoid having to attend the Republican National Convention.

    even self-immolation with scalding water…

Praying for the governor. I was scaled on my foot when I was nine years old. This is very painful. I wish that on no one. It takes a long time to heal. The scare is still there.
