Florida dad: ‘The gun didn’t kill my boy. I did’

The Florida father whose son was shot by accident at world’s”safest” shooting range is blaming himself.

“The gun didn’t kill my boy. I did,” 64-year-old William Clayton Brumby told CNN in an interview published Tuesday.

“Every round in the gun is your responsibility,” he added. “When it fires you need to stand to account for it it. That’s what I’ve spent the last two days doing, accounting for my operating error.”

Brumby fatally shot his son Stephen in what he deemed “a very freak accident” at the High Noon Gun Range. After firing a round, an empty shell casing reportedly ricocheted off the wall and fell into the back of William Brumby’s shirt. While trying to fish it out with his right hand, which was holding the handgun, he accidentally fired the weapon at Stephen, who was standing directly behind him.

Guns don’t kill people…I think the victim would disagree.

So if the father had beaten the boy to death with a baseball bat, it would have been the bat’s fault? Your logic escapes me.

Could the bat beat the child to death if dad tried to scratch his back with it? If the bat fell to the floor, could it then go off and beat the child to death? If the child was downrange, in front of the target, could the dad have fired the bat and killed his son?

Your lack of logic escapes me. I did not say it was the gun’s fault; however, if they had been playing darts, I think the idiot’s son would still be alive. So, no matter how long the gun nuts keep spinning it, guns do kill people.

your sounding stupid must be fun for you because you do it constantly.

Logic in general escapes you, Ronnie. If Mr. Brumby had been holding a baseball bat instead of a gun, would his son have died? I’ll wait.

So how did you kill him?

Takes the phrase “broad minded” to a whole new level.

I’m convinced that a core difference between conservatives vs. liberals is that we liberals can hold one more idea in our heard.

For example, conservatives insist that the problem is people, not guns.

Liberals understand it can be both.

    • Ron Theison July 5th, 2016 at 15:27

You mean you try to understand it’s both. No firearm is able to get up and shoot itself. The man was right, he and he alone made the mistake that caused his son his life.

      • whatthe46 July 5th, 2016 at 20:25

and what was used in the commission of causing his son’s death? c’mon, i know you got it in ya. a) the gun b) the gun or c) the gun. i’m giving you hints so you better get this right.

      • Comicus July 6th, 2016 at 19:51

The gun was a necessary component, Ronnie. Had he been holding a ham sandwich, his son wouldn’t be dead. Guns are designed to make killing easier for people.

  5. Gina Bousquet July 5th, 2016 at 12:30

Doing something else- and pointing at his son- with the hand that holds a loaded gun. WHY?!

    • whatthe46 July 5th, 2016 at 20:30

      cause stoopid.

      • Gina Bousquet July 5th, 2016 at 20:37

So darn stupid it’s truly unbelievable!

  6. amersham1046 July 5th, 2016 at 22:25

Tea Bagger logic, the gun is never the issue, the phase of the moon is responsible

  7. bunya July 6th, 2016 at 14:48

Technically, he’s right. The gun didn’t kill his son. It was the idiot behind the gun who killed his son. Dumbf*ck.
