GOP county chair quits after comparing Obama to chimpanzee

Posted by | July 3, 2016 08:59 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

The chair of the Delta County Republican Party must have thought she was being clever. Now, though, she’s resigned after her racist Facebook meme.

Party officials were upset after a photo comparing President Barack Obama to a chimpanzee appeared on Linda Sorenson’s Facebook page, the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reported.

The photo depicted former President Ronald Reagan bottle feeding a chimpanzee and included the text, ‘I’ll be damned… Reagan used to babysit Obama.’

Sorenson stepped down after an accountability meeting was convened by the county’s Republican Central Committee investigating the allegations.

She announced her decision to resign in an email to supporters.

The committee was investigating allegations that Sorenson and others made that her Facebook page was ‘hacked,’ and whether she violated party rules by endorsing a primary candidate.

Sorenson said her Facebook page was hacked, but Colorado Party Chairman Steve House said that was not the case.

And in an interview in May after the image was posted, Sorenson said she did not care if people were offended by the image.

‘I really don’t care if people are offended by it,’ she told The Big Media Blog of the post. ‘Un-friend me. Stop looking at me on Facebook.’

The GOP is the party of bigots, hate and ignorance.

    Another bigot exposed…

      She exposed herself.

Trying to claim that your FB page was hacked after totally owning the comment?
Silly Republican; the internet NEVER forgets.

From the top down, they never seem to get that. Tweets they wish they hadn’t tweeted, but it takes only a nanosecond for someone to see it and save it, and then it circles the globe at twice the speed of light. Forever.

      • allison1050 July 3rd, 2016 at 11:38

Plus they don’t get that even hitting the delete key doesn’t mean a damned thing to a hacker since everything is retrievable. ;o)

    • allison1050 July 3rd, 2016 at 11:35

They still don’t get that internet stuff and that once it’s there it’s permanently there…’cause they’re stoo-pid. ;o/

She is but the tip of the iceberg…Delta County has been like this
since I moved here during the Hippie Commune era…there were no Black
folks here at the time, and the Hippies enjoyed the hatred, and the
violence directed towards us…there was even going to be a “Hippie
Dip”…ya know a bunch of rednecks dipping us hippies into a “sheep dip
for bugs”…We did not give in, and we found some acceptance…Yet,
through all of that, our Hispanic farm workers came and went as the
seasons passed…Some stayed on, and became part of the community…but
still, there were very few black folks living among us..As the Hippie
community became mainstream, the rednecks directed their anger, and
hatred towards the Hispanic folks…this has calmed down some, but has
not disappeared….this is when I met Rocky…He was a cowboy from
Chicago, who rode in the rodeos in the midwest…a bull rider…and a
tough and honest person…Our wives were room mates in collage, and we
became best friends…oh, he was American Indian/African American, and
both of his families rejected the couple because she is white…and he
was neither full Indian, nor full African…I, being of Polish/Welsh
decent, baffled many, as to why we were friends…He was a Veteran of
Viet Nam, wounded NINE times…and was awarded the Bronze Star…this
was the beginning of my education in the Black Experience…As the both
of us struggled to support our wives and kids, Rocky and I began a small
business to bring Rodeos to our area…I mean Professional type of
rodeos, not the small local ones, but with stock contractors from Texas,
and Oklahoma…I traveled with Rocky to find and sign these
contractors…I GOT EDUCATED in lessons of bigotry and racism…I
learned how to recognize a dangerous situation, without thinking about
it…I learned how to talk my way out of bad situations, which there
were many, and on occasion, had to fight our way to the vehicle…I was
stabbed once, and Rocky was bushwacked from behind with a hammer…We
managed to make our escape, but it left such an impression on me, that I
will Join the New Black Panthers to honor my Friend Rocky…who passed
away from some of his old wounds….to this day I honor Rocky every time
I speak up against bigotry, racism, and hatred…I will continue to
fight in his name, for the Rights of My Brothers and Sister to live
without fear of persecution, of violence and of the hatred born from
Bigotry…This is my story…I live in Delta County…And Rocky will be
    honored….

    The local Republican mayor commented:
“There’s no room for racism, intended or unintended, in society.”

This from the party that has made Trump their candidate for POUTS.

In her reply lie she says “From one moment to the next, I’m national news.” And that’s what it’s really all about, isn’t it Linda? Making YOU look important, getting YOUR 15 minutes in the limelight. Because you know you are actually just a scared, little, nasty person, right? Oh, and I wouldn’t worry too much about the national news… I get the feeling they won’t be around much anymore.

  7. allison1050 July 3rd, 2016 at 11:33

Quite a few have been leaving little Linda loooovvve notes on her wall, I being just one of the many to do so. ;o) She can keep her non-apology which only goes to show Linda’s total lack of that thingy she referred to as character and that stuff that her side loves to fling at others regarding that “taking personal responsibility” stuff that she and the rest don’t think applies to them also. It does Linda it does. ;o)

    • Hirightnow July 3rd, 2016 at 11:55

I just looked…her FB page seems to have been deleted.(Maybe by …..HACKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!)

      • allison1050 July 3rd, 2016 at 14:36

lollol but I’ll never forget her name like others won’t. I’m sure she’s either reading the comments or a friend is and then telling her what was said, they do love to torture themselves. ;o)

        (“gasp”)

  8. Tommie July 3rd, 2016 at 13:16

First her account was “hacked” and then the truth comes out, “I don’t care if people found this offensive.”, that’s right, why hide the racism? I am starting to believe their are alot more racist out there than thought!

“Sorenson and others made that her Facebook page was ‘hacked,'” there’s that party of personal responsibility again.
