Bundy furious he can’t have guns in jail

Ryan Bundy filed a complaint that his First and Second Amendment rights are being violated while he’s in the slammer.

My rights are being violated. My right to life is being violated. All of my First Amendment rights are being violated. My right to freedom of religion is being violated. I cannot participate in religious activities and temple covenants, and wear religious garments. I could wear them at Henderson, but MCDC is depriving me of the right to wear them. My right to freedom of speech is being hampered by monitoring and recording. My right to freedom of assembly is being violated; I am not allowed to see my brother and move about.

Yesterday, I attempted to discuss these issues with the U.S. Marshals, and they said that these were simply the jail rules. I asked them specifically about if there was any reason for the ‘keep separate’ orders. In Henderson, my brothers and father were housed together. Up here, they make efforts to keep us separate. This violates my right to freedom of assembly. My Second Amendment rights are being violated. I never waived that right.

I feel for him, I really do! Of course, what I feel is disgust and the sweet touch of schadenfreude…

I stopped saying “I can’t believe someone could be this stupid” years ago……mainly because every single time I said it there would be some idiot like this who opened their mouths and made me wrong.

An apocryphal “quote” from Ralph Waldo Emerson has it that you “Build a better mousetrap, and the world will beat a path to your door.” There’s a kind of inverse corollary that says “If you idiot-proof something, they’ll just build a better idiot.”

I think laughter is one of the very best medicines, it seems to be contagious too…..hope you can hear me laugh!

When I was 12, I had some pet mice…..they had litters up to about 12 at a time…..I wonder if they build idiots in litters because there are just so many of them

There’s a book by C.M. Kornbluth, “The Marching Morons” which takes the premise that intelligent people tend to have fewer kids (this is true,) and takes it to an absurdist conclusion. You have the few remaining intelligent people left fighting to keep the world from collapsing thanks to all the morons. I always think of that story when I read the stupid things people do and say and believe. Particularly conservatives and libertarians and Republicans…

I don’t know about that. It may depend on how one measures intelligence. My IQ is really high but I have a large family. I planned my kids, didn’t have them all at once, and they all had food, shelter, clothing, and all the things a kid should have. All either finished college or are still in college….some going for Masters degrees, some have them now….

If I had it to do over again….well, maybe I would have made other choices, but it is what it is. Maybe people are intelligent on some areas, not in others.

In support of that claim though, I have seen cases like the Duggars. Their desire to have kids to the point where they endanger the health of the fetus just so they can add to their former TV show ratings is ignorance at some level. And it doesn’t seem wise to have more kids than one can handle or afford, so I guess I can show some from each side.

Having a large family isn’t for the weak. Teenagers are the pits.

As I said, intelligent people “tend” to have fewer kids. Higher education has also shown to correlate to fewer kids. That doesn’t mean there aren’t exceptions (smartest man I ever met had a whole passel of kids.) But, statistically, they average fewer kids.

Having a large family isn’t for the weak. Teenagers are the pits.

                I agree. I stuck with just two…
