That account has since been suspended, and bidding has returned to normal. The most recent seemingly legitimate bid was placed by the user “Brez Morrell,” for $485,000.

    Since it’s such an unusual name, I searched Google, and found the following: “Brez Morrell was taken into custody on 3/14/2013 in Lee County, Florida and charged with drug equip-possess (and or use).”
    So it’s likely this one is phony too. In case the amount didn’t give it away.

    The bidders list is actually funny, and it is doubtful that any are real bids.
    The ghoulish website that supports this “sale” is pretty disgusting, and hope they get trolled and busted.

    i read over on gawker that the killer said that the smithsonian is interested in buying and displaying the gun.

    right quick, the smithsonian said the equivalent of, “nuh uh, no way!”
