Confronted by Grayson, Reid calls security

Posted by | May 12, 2016 09:00 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

Congressman Alan Grayson wanted to know why Harry Reid isn’t supporting him for Senate. It got heated when Grayson insisted that Reid say his name.

The outburst prompted a Reid staffer in the room to bring in the senator’s security detail, who stood inside the door during the rest of the meeting as a precaution.

Reid met with members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, but when Grayson was called on to speak, he repeatedly asked Reid if the senator knew his name.

“Yes, Alan,” Reid replied.

“Say my name,” Grayson insisted more than once.

Grayson then produced a printed-out news article that featured a quote from Reid criticizing Grayson’s ethics issues.

Asked why he gave the quote, Reid replied, “Because it’s true and I want you to lose.”

Grayson is one of the few real progressives we have….

I like Grayson, and while in the House, he has been very productive, but he has a tendency to be inflammatory and over the top, and has alienated many, even his supporters. He could have handled the Reid situation far better, but unfortunately he is like this, and has gotten in hot water before by being so confrontational over minor issues.

Grayson is running for Rubio’s seat against Murphy (a complete failure) and could help tip the senate to the left.
        1. We need Grayson in Florida
        2. We need Grayson in Washington
        3. Reid should be able to see past all this….he’s on his way out after all

Agree completely, but Alan can be his own worse enemy. He too often invites confrontation….that said, it seems that doing such (ala Trumpenstein) is fine for Gopers, but tends to derail Dems.
Murphy was seen as a good guy when he ran against Alan West, the insane demagogue, but he really has supported a corporatist ideology too often.
There is a lot of money here to support whatever demented Goper wins the primary, so we have a big battle to get a decent Senator in place of Marcito.

Well he’s a Sanders backer and rich which is a strange combination in itself. I’ll bet Harry has a problem with both of those things

        Totally agree ELV.
Not to mention he switched his super-delegate vote to Sanders. I’m sure that is part of the reason that Reid apparently is not thrilled with him. I’m also sure that there is more that we don’t know.
