Trump supported Iraq war, called it ‘tremendous success,’ now lies about it

Donald Trump needs to be called to account about his ongoing lie that he was against the Iraq war.

Could reporters stop letting him lie to their faces about the most important policy call of the last 20 years?

Donald Trump did not oppose the invasion of Iraq. Further, there’s no evidence that he’s ever been a “dove” — and a great deal that he’s been an impulsive supporter of military intervention around the world.

We know this because BuzzFeed News’ intrepid Andrew Kaczynski unearthed an audio recording of him saying he supported it. You can listen to it above. The audio quality is clear.

In the recording, made on Sept. 11, 2002, when it mattered, Howard Stern asked Trump whether he supported the invasion. His answer: “Yeah, I guess so.” On the war’s first day, he called it a “tremendous success from a military standpoint.”

It was the most recent in a series of belligerent statements about Iraq. In 2000, he opined at length in his book how U.S. airstrikes did nothing to stop Iraq’s WMD programs and said it “is madness not to carry the mission to its conclusion” in the context of a new war. He said many times in the late 1990s and early 2000s that George H.W. Bush should have toppled Saddam during the Gulf War.

Trump’s opinions during that period have all the force and thoughtfulness of a man who isn’t paying much attention and whose opinion doesn’t matter. His support for the war is also totally unambiguous.

we are now going to see the Media in all its glory…I know that this site is Alan’s and he is a large part of the “media”…but Alan is a voice that seems to be lonely out in the wilds of Air America…where are the progressive and liberal voices, other than Alan’s voice? Are we going to let the corporate media dominate the message, like they have doing??? Alan cannot do this alone…nor should we let him do it alone…I just don’t know how or what else to do to help our nation from going down the Trump path…

Media moguls have stated that they love the business that Trump has brought to their channels and sites, so clearly only care about profit margin, high ratings, and care little about journalism and the future of our country.
Give them feedback, through their online sites, and sign petitions supporting fair and factual reporting.

chief sore foot (bravest of all braves for his personal ‘std nam’) will not hesitate to bomb whatever third world country his people think will raise his ratings with white america. if Gops really want to run US into the ground, baby don don is definitely the guy who can and will do it. COWARDS who suddenly become the leader must always prove to their following that they are the bravest of the brave – even when their footsies hurted.
    mark it down.
baby don don fully capable of ordering air strikes on anyone who is not capable of fighting back. only now – CHINA (the nation that builds islands) may find it necessary to confront the biggest bully on the block (purely for business).
the US is making one hell of a fatal mistake if they think we are capable of bringing CHINA down.

    que sera sera –

but this is one American that has enough EXPERIENCE in life to know better than to follow or even support baby don don to oblivion.
