Rep. Pete King: Cruz ‘gives Lucifer a bad name’

Posted by | April 28, 2016 19:05 | Filed under: Politics

Feel the love.

John Boehner compared Ted Cruz to Satan. Rep. Pete King (R-N.Y.) says Boehner was being too kind.

King on Thursday echoed the former Speaker’s assessment of the GOP presidential candidate as “Lucifer in the flesh.”

“I fully agree with John Boehner, and maybe it gives Lucifer a bad name by comparing him to Ted Cruz,” King said on CNN’s “Wolf.”

No, Christians gave Lucifer a bad name.

    • Mensa Member April 28th, 2016 at 20:56

Please don’t use this to say bigoted stuff.

Obama is a Christian. Is he worse than Lucifer? How about Nelson Mandela? Or Martin Luther King Jr.? Maya Angelou?

      Christians, all.

      • whatthe46 April 28th, 2016 at 21:02

true Christians would know he’s describing the fake “christians.”

        • Mensa Member April 28th, 2016 at 21:07

If that’s what he is saying, he should say it.

One sign of a bigot is blanket generalizations.

          • bpollen April 28th, 2016 at 21:47

            Again, freakin’ ridiculous.

I never brought up the sincerity or lack of sincerity of any freakin’ Christians. I stated a fact. I don’t freakin’ KNOW how “true” the Christians were who created a mythos that doesn’t even get support from the source OF that mythos. What the hell does their relationship to the religion have to do with their being wrong?

True Christians, fake Christians, or non-Christians, wrong is wrong. Weres St. Hieronymous, St. Augustine, Bishop Lucifer of Cagliari, and John Calvin fake Christians, apostates, heretics? Seems like somebody has a HUGE blind spot when it comes to the reality of his frequently avowed religion. You’d think if you were going to correct other people about your “faith” you would know what you are talking about.

You or Christian saints, you or the translators, you or Calvin? Who should we believe?

            • Mensa Member April 28th, 2016 at 22:33

If you think devout Christians like Jimmy Carter, Martin Luther King Jr. or Nelson Mandela are evil, then you’re the one who is freakin’ ridiculous.

And bigotry makes people believe ridiculous thing.

If you want to say that some Christians are evil — I’m down with that.

But, when you generalize it to all Christians, you’re a bigot.

              • bpollen April 28th, 2016 at 23:49

For a Mensa Member (self-avowed) you sure seem to have problems with reading comprehension. Please point out where I said anything about Carter, King, or Mandela. Where did I say ANYONE was evil? I never even mentioned your cast of characters, nor uttered the word evil. I didn’t generalize about all Christians. I stated historical fact.

You don’t like that I pointed out that it was Christians who confused “morning star” with “Satan.” Your approval isn’t necessary. It’s true. If you can prove otherwise, feel free. Of course, it would take some extraordinary proof to change history. Knock yourself out.

You claim all the time about being Christian, but you are lying, badly, when you say that I claimed anyone was evil. I didn’t say Christians were evil. That is “bearing false witness.” I think that there Bible frowns on that.

Nor does believing history, facts, and ACTUAL experts on the subject equate to bigotry. Were Calvin and Augustine and Jerome bigots because they DIDN’T buy Lucifer = Satan? Did THEY say Christians are evil?

Seriously? You think Mother Teresa was evil?

I said that just like you said “I like the taste of human flesh.”

              • fahvel April 29th, 2016 at 03:24

your 4 choices were simply kind caring people – non he godsht was imposed – justice etc was.

Actually, she was. She was friend to vicious dictators, criminals and con men. She accepted millions of dollars in “donations” to help the destitute in India, but the poor and helpless never benefitted from that money. Mother Teresa’s free clinics provided care that was at best rudimentary and haphazard and at worst unsanitary and dangerous, despite the enormous amounts of donations she received. Multiple volunteers at Teresa’s clinics, such as Mary Loudon and Susan Shields, have testified to the inadequate care provided to the dying. Despite routinely receiving millions of dollars in donations, Teresa deliberately kept her clinics barren and austere, lacking all but the most rudimentary and haphazard care.
                .
The following quote from Teresa says it all: “I think it is very beautiful for the poor to accept their lot, to share it with the passion of Christ. I think the world is being much helped by the suffering of the poor people.”

                • whatthe46 April 29th, 2016 at 13:31

                  WTH? (talking about the quote)

                  • Bunya April 29th, 2016 at 13:45

True. With regard to her own medical treatment Mother Teresa received only the best. Although she made public shows of declining free high quality medical treatment she nevertheless had no compunctions about secretly accepting medical care from some of the best institutions in the world including having cataract surgery and having a pace maker installed. When the time came for her to be ‘kissed by Jesus’ she did not die in one of her own homes for the dying and was not treated with blunt needles. She passed to meet her maker in the very best of medical facilities.

                      i’m not surprised at all.

            • fahvel April 29th, 2016 at 03:22

when one admits to evangelical background, one is already blind or sadly corrupted – no matter how hard they try to live beyond the initial poison.

      • bpollen April 28th, 2016 at 21:36

        That’s freakin’ ridiculous.

The Vulgate Bible uses Lucifer – light-bringer, morning star – (in the Vulgate) to refer to a Babylonian king in Isaiah. Coincidentally, the Canaanite god Attar was also referred to as “morning star. It is also used 4 more times, none of which refer to a fallen angel. Who the hell turned light-bringer into the debbil if it WASN’T the Christians? Christian writers are who took the words of Isaiah, a prophetic vision against a king of Babylon, and connected it with Satan.

Seems like you think facts that don’t reflect positively on Christianity is bigotry. You need to refresh your knowledge of the language. And your religion. Lucifer as the debbil is similar to the Rapture – neither is biblical, but putative Christians claim otherwise.

        Let me quote someone:
John Calvin said: “The exposition of this passage, which some have given, as if it referred to Satan, has arisen from ignorance: for the context plainly shows these statements must be understood in reference to the king of the Babylonians.”

Seems that even important Christians agree with me, and not with you. As Calvin says, it was “ignorance” that gave rise to the belief. Augustine of Hippo (4th – 5th century) who both read and wrote Latin, never used Lucifer in any references to the debbil. In fact, in the Vulgate, Lucifer is presented as lucifer, hence not a proper name or title. St. Hieronymus, who translated the bible from Hebrew & Greek to Latin (the Vulgate) conversant in Greek and Hebrew and Latin, knows less about those languages than YOU?

        • Mensa Member April 28th, 2016 at 22:30

          >>Seems like you think facts that don’t reflect positively on Christianity

          Of course not.

But calling a whole people-group evil is what bigots do.

          • bpollen April 29th, 2016 at 00:09

And of course, O holy one, I never said that. I didn’t say anybody was evil. I stated fact.

Telling lies that can be disproven easily (just scroll up!) is not what I was taught was Christian behavior. Think Moses addressed that with his tablets. Why do you feel the need to falsely characterize my statements as bigotry against 2.2 billion people? Why can’t you address what I actually said?

I find your actions to be contrary to your professed “faith.”
Leviticus 19:11 You shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another.
Proverbs 12:22 Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.
Proverbs 13:5 A righteous man hates lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and comes to shame.
Proverbs 14:5 A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.
Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace to the hearers.
Revelation 22:15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and fornicators, and murderers, and idolaters, and whoever loves and makes a lie.

Again, the “Christian” is shown to be wrong by his own holy book.

            • fahvel April 29th, 2016 at 03:21

wow a second time – my morning is getting sunnier.

        • Bunya April 29th, 2016 at 14:32

It seems you’re correct. The Christians DID give Lucifer a bad name – literally.

          • bpollen April 29th, 2016 at 15:31

I made a simple statement of fact. Christians literally did give “morning star” or “dawn-bringer” a bad name – Satan.

You acknowledge it, while others scream “Blasphemer!”

            • Bunya April 29th, 2016 at 15:42

I think that knee-jerk response comes from years of playing the “victim”.

      • Bunya April 29th, 2016 at 13:23

Nice to see you again, Burqa.

    • Bunya April 29th, 2016 at 13:35

Perhaps he’s upset because he thinks you’re including fine Christians such as Adolph Hitler, Dennis Hastert, Pat Robertson, David Vitter, Ted Cruz, Timothy Dolan, Josh Duggar, Timothy McVeigh, the Army of God, Scott Roeder, and a whole list of pedophile priests, etc. in with your list of “Christians”.

      • bpollen April 29th, 2016 at 15:33

That kind of list and you leave out Rasputin? Shame on you! :)

        • Bunya April 29th, 2016 at 15:47

I’m sorry. I must be getting old. I also forgot Jim Jones, Fred Phelps, David Koresh and Paul Hill. Oh, and Sun Myung Moon.

          • bpollen April 30th, 2016 at 01:51

There’s also Stalin. He was Greek Orthodox, but that’s still Christian. And we maybe should include Warren Jeffs because FLDS members think of themselves as Christians.

Lucifer is said to be considering a defamation of character suit….and he’s got plenty of lawyers on his turf to press it.

    • Mensa Member April 28th, 2016 at 20:55

      I hope is sues.

It will be hilarious to see Cruz in court, proving that he’s not Lucifer.

      Or an SOB.

Even more funny if he loses the suit.

  3. jybarz April 28th, 2016 at 19:31

Don’t you just love how Cruzifer is hated by many in the GOP? He doesn’t seem to know nor care that he stinks.

    • Mensa Member April 28th, 2016 at 20:53

      He stinks of sulfur.

      • CandideThirtythree April 29th, 2016 at 05:14

  4. Obewon April 28th, 2016 at 19:35

    Are today’s GOP Satanic?
That’s the most obvious rhetorical question.

  5. Suzanne McFly April 28th, 2016 at 20:51

Well like rump, cruz is also their creation. Hating your own children just means you were horrible parents.
