What does that even mean? Did Alan ever say that ISIL/Da’esh was an existential threat? If so, that’s wrong. They are a few ragtag fanatics in the desert. They commit horrible atrocities to the people under their direct control, and have committed or inspired horrible acts of murder and violence in Europe. But they are not an existential threat to any Western country, least of all the United States.
I thought it was the right-wing nutjobs who were pushing the line that IS/Da’esh was an existential threat to the survival of the world.

That comment caught me as odd too, I read it 3 times and I still could not figure out what they were saying. I should of realized they are faux entertainment viewers and not the brightest bulbs, that would of saved me 2 minutes.
