I was in the Air Force twenty years, and the only time I had a loaded weapon was in basic training, when I qualified with the M-16. Other times, during exercises, we had weapons with blanks.
So it’s like when people call a refrigerator an ice box. Just a holdover from their youth. We had an actual ice box for a few years, and continued to call the fridge that for a while.
There was a campaign many years ago to get people to remove the doors from their old fridges in their yards, because kids would get in and close the door, and couldn’t get out. Any number of kids died that way.

They kept the beer cold but they were most certainly death traps.
I vaguelyremember my grandparents having one (it was a pain to pull open with that handle), but I can’t recall the brand.
I also remember those aluminum ice trays with the lever, although I don’t think anyone dies from using them…

I actually saw someone on another site correct the use of the term “tin foil,” saying that tin isn’t used anymore.
William April 9th, 2016 at 16:52
Yeah I guess it’s all aluminum foil now. *sigh* Kids today have no respect for tradition.
Larry Schmitt April 9th, 2016 at 16:56

Here’s a compromise:
Let’s build Trump’s trillion dollar wall but put it on the Mason Dixon Line.
It would save us Blue States a fortune.
Roctuna April 9th, 2016 at 19:08
The problem is Indiana is a “blue” state. The unregulated crazies are everywhere.
robert April 9th, 2016 at 19:12
if a right to work state means your blue ? im casting the wrong votes
Roctuna April 9th, 2016 at 19:15
I meant that Indiana is north of the Mason-Dixon line
robert April 9th, 2016 at 19:34
it might as well be below the mason line because its sinking fast
Dwendt44 April 10th, 2016 at 00:51
Perhaps but Indiana has been a hot bed of KKK activity for a very long time.
jybarz April 10th, 2016 at 01:19
This is the 2nd time you claim the wall would cost $1Trillion which is $1,000B.
CNN estimated it at $10.5B and I saw others’ estimate at $8B.
So, you’re out around 100 times.
Problem with Maths?
I don’t believe Trump can get Mexico to pay for it.
