Mississippi considering firing squads

The Mississippi House thinks it’s more humane than lethal injection.

The Mississippi House wants to allow the state to execute prisoners using a firing squad instead of the lethal injection.

The House amended a Senate Bill on Friday, which made the execution process secret, making it possible to use a firing squad if officials decide lethal injection is too expensive or unavailable.

It passed the amendment 70-39 and the bill 80-39. The Senate will now review it again.

Representative Robert Foster, who proposed the amendment according to the Daily Journal, said afterward that the firing squad is a more humane, effective and less costly option than lethal injection.

lol. you’re good Suzanne. i’m surprised they didn’t suggest lynching. i mean, you don’t have to pay for bullets, you don’t have to pay for drugs to kill them, but, a rope, if it’s a good brand, could last for centuries. look at all the money they could save by using the same rope. the dumbnuts.

There is a sick, dark logic to this that I understand.

If you can set-aside the glaring immorality of killing people in cold blood, then firing squads make sense.

Shooting people in the head is fast and cheap.

The guillotine would be even better but I suppose that’s too French for Mississippi.

    • The Original Just Me March 27th, 2016 at 00:52

Guillotine method results in the head living for 20 to 30 seconds after being severed. Too Good for the Republicans.

  9. Mike March 26th, 2016 at 22:51

What’s next, get rid of the costly trial part too…??? All those pointy headed librull lawyers just muck things up

  10. The Original Just Me March 27th, 2016 at 00:50

Firing Squad, Hummmmm, that would be one way of getting rid of the Republicans.

    • Demosthenes March 27th, 2016 at 08:59

They work wonderfully well for all, regardless of political affiliation.

      • The Original Just Me March 27th, 2016 at 11:55

I have studied one execution by firing squad in the 1800s. A very infamous man was supposedly killed. I don’t think so. Execution by firing squad can be faked with the proper help.

        • Demosthenes March 27th, 2016 at 14:09

It’s a job that requires integrity, your marksmen must be beyond reproach, you know, the kind of person who would slip in a live round just to be sure.

          • The Original Just Me March 27th, 2016 at 15:10

I believe only a hand full of people were involved with the cover up. The marksmen were handed muzzle loaded rifles and were military members. All of the rifles could have been blank loads. The body fell back wards into a prepared coffin. A local Doctor checked the body immediately and declared it dead. The coffin lid was immediately nailed in place while only six local men stood by it. No one else was allowed to get close to the body in the coffin. The coffin was then placed in a wagon and transported to the man’s home. The body then was removed from the coffin and prepared according to ritual. The coffin was then sealed again and moved to a cemetery and buried. That night, the coffin was exhumed and stolen. This whole thing, trial and all, was held to remove U.S. Government and Populace pressure from a rather large Church group. The whole thing, taken from a critical stand point was entirely a phony front show. Just my opinion based on much research by myself.

      China style, in stadiums…

  12. Um Cara March 27th, 2016 at 11:00

I just don’t understand how in 2016 politicians like Ted Cruz, Donald Trump, or Hillary Clinton can support the death penalty. I don’t care so much which method is used to enact the punishment, the death penalty should just be abolished, period.

  13. John Henry March 27th, 2016 at 22:13

Yep…Let’s put in a clause to prevent them from taking away our power to kill people….Just in case those sneaky liberals try to affect the supply of our lethal injection drugs…..Yeah, kill, kill, kill.

  14. fahvel March 28th, 2016 at 13:14

but but but, it’s so much more humane than strapping someone to a gurney and drugging them to death or sitting them in the old “hot seat” or hanging them or, apropos to the weekend, crucifying the,.
