Texas women now forced to drive 4 times farther because of anti-abortion laws

And that’s what they want to do–make it so inconvenient that women stop having abortions.

Researchers with the Texas Policy Evaluation Project (TxPEP)…have already found that some women had to wait as much as three weeks longer for an appointment. Some women they’ve interviewed weren’t able to secure an abortion at all, due to the logistical and financial barriers.

Now, TxPEP has published a significant study, in the American Journal of Public Health, on the effects of HB2, the omnibus anti-abortion bill that the Court could end up partially striking down. The study shows just how many burdens were placed on women as a result of the clinics closed by the law.

Over 60% of the new “clinics” that were opened are against abortion and theocratic based.

It’s clever how misleading some of the names are…they call them “abortion crisis centers” but never mention the word abortion and only ever “advise” patients to birth the fetus…It’s a sneaky way to get the taxpayers to pay for the legislature to circumvent Roe v Wade

Absolutely, they have preachers as conselers and they talk about the beauty of birth, possibility of adoption, thelies that abortion causes breast cancer and mental illness.

looks like their parents not having abortions caused their mental illness.

I don’t know how they make it work…??? It’s outright proselytizing not to mention denying someone a constitutional right…WTF, abortion is legal…tax payer funded Sunday school is not.

It’s texas, they do not vcare. We voted in 2 evangelical nutjobs as Govenor and Lt. Govenor. They have no money for HC for the poor yet they just spent 800million to militarize the border. It is disgusting, they were taking selfies with the weapons and onthe boats made for killing with mounted large weapons. Military grade.

What’s with these people who feel so compelled to dictate how I will treat my own body?

    • Tim Coolio March 20th, 2016 at 19:03

Don’t worry gals! the GOP will make your private medical / life
      decisions for you!!

      • Annie March 20th, 2016 at 20:27

Phew! Thank you, sir! I was overwhelmed with the mere thought of being in complete control of my lady parts!!

    “Drive Friendly…” really:

In fact, Texas reported 3,377 people were killed in motor vehicle crashes in 2013, 232,041 were injured, and 89,270 sustained serious injuries. and it was up y 10% in 2014.

Maybe they ought to concentrate on this instead of worrying about a woman’s body.

      Great point!
They’re placing women in harms way as opposed to providing access to reproductive healthcare which is immediately available in every other wealthy developed country.

And that decision has caused 240,000 women to risk their lives, not that it matters…..http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2015/11/thousands-texas-women-are-trying-self-induce-abortions

If only imaginary Eve hadn’t eaten that imaginary apple at the suggestion of that imaginary snake, women wouldn’t have to have men control their sexuality. But the sins of the imaginary mother are visited on the actual daughters.

Or maybe certain types of men (republicans, conservatives) have a debilitating fear of sexually independent women.
