John McCain in toughest reelection battle of his career

Posted by | March 19, 2016 18:20 | Filed under: Politics

And that battle would worsen if Donald Trump is at the top of his ticket.

Early polls show McCain tied with his Democratic challenger, Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick (D-Ariz.), at around 40 percent despite having nearly 100-percent name recognition in the state he has represented in either the Senate or House since 1983…

If Trump, the Republican front-runner, clinches the nomination his effect on GOP candidates down ballot is hard to predict but many party strategists aren’t optimistic.

Grandpaw is well past due for retirement like most Americans have been.

      Me Too. :+)

I was put out to pasture a month away from 61 and I’ll be 66 later this year.

        • The Original Just Me March 19th, 2016 at 22:49

66, Awe, just a sweet young gal. I’m 71 and pushing it. My whole body just up and crashed on me when I was 60. I was trying to make it to 62 but the body didn’t hold out. I talked with my doctor and then went home, sat down on the couch, and waited to die. Damned if I did’t get better. I just dumped a whole bunch of stress. Now, I am just a pain in other peoples lives. How are you doing now days. I usually keep up with you through your posts but I have been wandering lately. :+)

          • allison1050 March 20th, 2016 at 06:36

The radiologist wants to have a biopsy done on my lower back but I say screw that crap! I agreed to 1 more MRI of my lower back and I’m done with all of them and I’ll get an order for the removal of my port so I won’t have to continue with a monthly flush either. It’s time for me to get on with my life minus them. :o)

            • The Original Just Me March 20th, 2016 at 06:52

It’s the person that counts and not the body parts. My sister lost hers at 42 and she is now 79. Her’s is an amazing story of Chemo, radiation, surgery, and she never has slowed down through any of it. Love Ya and keep going. Someday, maybe I’ll bet to have that cup of coffee with you. But for now, my wife does not travel anymore. :+)

              • allison1050 March 20th, 2016 at 10:57

Sorry to here that but someday we will have that coffee after a lovely lunch. ;o)

Okay, having lunch with Allison, just go moved from page ten to page one on my Bucket List. By the way, the list is about 47 pages long so you have always been high on it. :+)

How kind of you to say that.

            • The Original Just Me March 21st, 2016 at 14:35

A needle biopsy wouldn’t be bad, or even a Small cut and slice. I do understand. I have my own problems and then there is taking care of my wife. Things do get tiring after awhile. But, Hey, What else do we have to do in life ? If you do have removal, take some pictures for me first. I am just kidding but i do like admiring the female form. It is just part of being a a man I guess. It is okay for you to laugh at this time. :+)

              • allison1050 March 21st, 2016 at 15:42

After God made the world, he made Adam. He told Adam that he had made a perfect world for him to live in. Then he asked Adam if there was anything else that he wanted that God had forgot. With a twinkle in his eye, Adam said; A beautiful Woman. So, man has been admiring God’s Best Work ever since. Good thinker , that Adam man. :+)

Well he should of retired decades ago. It seems odd to me that their “jobs” can be done by people in their 80’s, who else has a job that they could do when they are 80? Who else has a job they could do in their 80’s? To me, it just proves that much work is not required from them and the money they make is too good to walk away.

    • whatthe46 March 19th, 2016 at 21:16

you’ve got it. sad part is, that they carry their ignorance and stupidity for all the years of their miserable lives. they inflict their hatred upon all of us.

How can anybody spend that much money in one lifetime ? :+)

  3. Obewon March 19th, 2016 at 19:37

The Palin effect violates VP nominee ‘do no harm to the party or candidate’ hypocrisy.

    • Suzanne McFly March 19th, 2016 at 20:08

That pic makes me hate that b!tch, a beautiful animal slaughtered so she could take a pic with him? He gave more to this world than she ever could.

      • whatthe46 March 19th, 2016 at 21:14

glad i read the comments first. touche Suzanne.

        • Suzanne McFly March 19th, 2016 at 21:31

It breaks my heart that someone can do that with no compassion for the animal.

          • whatthe46 March 19th, 2016 at 21:41

it’s wrong and there’s no other way to put it.

I get hunting for food. I don’t do it myself but, as a meat eater, I don’t judge people who hunt for food.

But killing for fun? It strikes me as sociopathic.

        • rg9rts March 20th, 2016 at 05:09

          OMG lookie what sweetie found!!!!!!!!!

      • The Original Just Me March 19th, 2016 at 21:36

It took that picture to make you hate her ? :+)

        • Suzanne McFly March 20th, 2016 at 12:19

I have no concern for her, but I never had a reason to hate her till I seen this pic. I don’t believe she deserves all the energy that is takes to hate someone just because she is an idiot, but this pic gives me reason to hate her.

          • The Original Just Me March 21st, 2016 at 14:16

I can see harvesting meat for food. but, killing any animal just for the Photo-op is just plain———— I guess I don’t want to use that kind of language.

            • Suzanne McFly March 21st, 2016 at 14:23

Don’t worry, I can fill in the blank.

      • CandideThirtythree March 20th, 2016 at 00:09

Is that what she was shooting from the helicopter?

I told my hubby about it and he just stuttered and stuttered, he was literally speechless…and furious but like I told him, republicans can get away with murder and absolutely nothing will be done to them.

        • whatthe46 March 20th, 2016 at 00:20

remember tRump said he could shoot someone on 5th ave and he’d still get support from the RWNJ’s. see, you’re right.

        • Suzanne McFly March 20th, 2016 at 12:23

I think she killed wolves from the helicopter, I heard about it but there is no way I will click on a story just to get pissed off about it.

          • CandideThirtythree March 21st, 2016 at 14:16

I hear ya!! I avoid anything with video of her because her voice is like those creatures in Homer’s Odyssey that have voices so horrible it drives men to commit suicide hahaha.

            • Suzanne McFly March 21st, 2016 at 14:23

Aren’t those voices supposed to be beautiful and alluring? lol

              • CandideThirtythree March 21st, 2016 at 16:27

It is not the Sirens that I am thinking of but it was some female monster from Greek mythology but I can’t think of the name…having a senior moment LOL.

                • Suzanne McFly March 21st, 2016 at 16:35

Lol, I have those moments myself and I am not even a senior yet, I will have to tie myself to the house by that time.

                  • CandideThirtythree March 21st, 2016 at 16:49

                    hahahaha, I am already there

            • Suzanne McFly March 21st, 2016 at 14:25

I think (it’s been awhile since I read Homer’s Odyssey) the voices draw men to the shore and their boats hit the rocks so the men drown.

              • CandideThirtythree March 21st, 2016 at 16:26

Maybe it was the Harpies I am thinking of, some mythological creature, cause she sure isn’t from this time line LOL.

              • CandideThirtythree March 21st, 2016 at 16:38

It was monsters that sang hideous tales of woe so depressing that it drove men mad, can you think of the name…it is driving me nuts but

I can’t seem to find the right keywords to look it up.

                • Suzanne McFly March 21st, 2016 at 16:46

I thought you were referring to the Sirens at first, I tried to look up what you were talking about but all I was given were links to read the entire text. I don’t have time for that lol.

                  • CandideThirtythree March 21st, 2016 at 22:14

hahaha yea me too! And while I like such things, no sense getting lost in the rabbit hole for a brain fart LOL.

                    • Suzanne McFly March 21st, 2016 at 22:23

Right, I read so much when I am taking classes, any extra reading I have to do becomes a chore.

                    • CandideThirtythree March 21st, 2016 at 23:45

I remember when I was in college and I didn’t even want to read the directions on the back of a cake mix hahaha. About the third year in, I could not stand it any more, I spent Spring break reading a bag of pure ole de junk novels just to get the taste of normal back. After that I was ok with having to read so many assignments…. until graduate school LOL.

                    • Suzanne McFly March 22nd, 2016 at 11:24

I am in graduate school now, I had a whole semester of between schools and I read a Wally Lamb novel. It felt so good to read something I was interested in for once in many years lol. I have 3 more of his novels sitting on my night stand, I use them to hold my water now. There is no way I can read a page without falling asleep. :(

                    • CandideThirtythree March 22nd, 2016 at 13:31

Aw, sweetie I know how that is and you have my sympathy. It was like exhausting and exhilarating at the same time if that is even possible.

You know what I miss? Used bookstores! Kindle is awesome but it still does not beat that experience of roaming the stacks in a cool musty room full of thousands of old books when you needed some down time. LOL. I am weird, I know hahaha

                    • Suzanne McFly March 22nd, 2016 at 16:01

No way, you aren’t weird at all. I used to go to one in a nice seaside town with my grandmother. She always read serial killer stories and Steven King books. We would go to the used book store for hours and connect at the end with our stacks of books. Of course their was a kitty that lived there and I always hung out with him scratching his head lol.

                • The Original Just Me March 21st, 2016 at 23:24

Google, Girls on balconies. Bourbon St, New Orleans. Same principle. Or Sirens of Homer’s Odyssey. :+)

                    • CandideThirtythree March 22nd, 2016 at 00:17

Yea, in the process now, we just had so much stuff to get settled here first and we bought farmland there with NOTHING on it so just getting all the utilities done long distance was a pain. We are supposed to go up in April and get some more stuff done…at this point I would almost be willing to live in a tent just to get done here LOL.

                    • The Original Just Me March 23rd, 2016 at 04:23

I don’t know your situation but here is a thought. You can pickup these older motor homes in the seventies and eighties for a thousand to fifteen hundred. They have all of the esscentuals of living. If nothing else they make for nice on site break and potty rooms. Once you have the services in, they are an easy hook up for full convenience. Afterward they can easily sell or make a nice get away cabin. A tow truck can move them to your sight with no license or messing with.

                    • CandideThirtythree March 23rd, 2016 at 09:09

Yea we are looking for one now, hubby wants to just leave it there for when we go up but I keep pointing out that we will need somewhere to live while we get the last 2 houses ready to sell. I can’t see all 3 families living in one house while the other one gets finished and sold lol. I also told him that we should have been looking during the winter when the prices were likely lower, it is coming up on camping season now so they will be harder to find.

                    • The Original Just Me March 24th, 2016 at 12:25

If you look in Arizona this time of year, the used lots are over flowing with inventory because the Snow birds have traded for new ones while spending the winter there.

                    • CandideThirtythree March 24th, 2016 at 15:51

I wonder if it is the same in New Mexico because we do go through there on the way?

                    • The Original Just Me March 25th, 2016 at 01:34

It could possible be. I have crossed NM a few times but only passing through on I-40. Oct 04 2014, we did cut diagonally through NM to San Antonio. We have never really stopped anywhere in that state. I do know Arizona is Big Time Snow Bird country. But a friend of mine does buy used RVs in Texas for resale here. Just try Craig’s list or Ebay for Texas and NM. Camping world.com is another source but they are retail. There is bound to be plenty of older used RVs that older couples had. Just don’t get one with a Chevy 454 Engine, that is a notoriously bad motor in motor homes. Ford and Dodge both have good motors. The Ford V-10 starting in 1999 is a good motor but don’t change the spark plugs. The Alumnium cylinder heads don’t hold their threads very good. The original plugs will last eighty to a hundred thousand miles okay. Of coarse Diesel pushers are all the rage but grab your wallet. :+)

                    • CandideThirtythree March 25th, 2016 at 02:13

Oh cool, thanks for the info. We have had a couple of camping trailers over the years, mostly when the kids were little but we bought those new. We don’t want to buy a new one this time because we are hoping not to need it for long LOL.

That trip, is the perfect example of why Americans were wise to reject John McCain. (Arizonans, not so bright.)

It showed exactly why we don’t want a hot-head in the White House. After that trip McCain and Lindsay Graham beat Obama over the head for not arming the “Syrian rebels” who we later learned were predominately ISIS.

Cool headed Obama, of course, had the better sense to know that arming anybody over there always has unintended consequences.

There are a few things about this man that I have liked. One of the things I could really like about him is his announcement that he is retiring.

    • LoisB March 19th, 2016 at 21:35

Yes. I think he’s well past his “use by” date.

      • CandideThirtythree March 19th, 2016 at 23:52

He’s ‘Gone over’ like my mom used to say. MOST of the people in congress have ‘gone over’ if you ask me but they keep showing up like a bad penny every few years.

Hard to imagine that Trump could turn into a godsend.
He gets the nomination…loses big and drags down senate and house republicans with him and turn both over to the Dems.
Maybe we can save this country after all..

      Were you MIA?

      • William March 20th, 2016 at 09:33

No. I’m not a fan of Senator McCain and his political agenda, but I am a huge fan of Commander McCain and what he stood for. I think it’s important to understand the difference between a political agenda, and the character, fortitude and courage Commander McCain displayed as a POW. These attributes, including his refusal leave his men, were consistent with the highest traditions of duty and honor.
I cringe at McCain politics, and sometimes think he’s just plain silly, but no matter what, he’s purchased his ticket to ride the respect train.
