Rand: Trump will get us ‘slaughtered in a landslide’

Posted by | January 15, 2016 09:41 | Filed under: Politics Radio Interviews

Rand Paul smartly avoided the undercard debate and spent Thursday in New York doing media. We discussed his decision to not attend the debate and what he needs to do to win.

SEN. PAUL: We think it’s a huge mistake to try to pre-decide the election by saying “Oh Trump is leading in the polls and so he’s going to win.” The polls have been so wrong. A month ago in Kentucky we had a Governor’s race; they said the Democrat was going to win by 5, but the Republican won by 8, 13 points off with one week to go in a two person race. A 12 person race, we don’t think the pollsters have a clue.

COLMES: So what do you need to do? Not being in the debate has been really interesting for you in that you’re getting more people listening to your interviews, than you would actually get paying attention to you in the debate tonight.

SEN. PAUL: In the last two days our refusal to be subjected to being second tier, has gotten us probably 15 million views on TV and radio. So we think we’re actually in a much better position…

SEN. PAUL: I think we, the Republican Party, becomes the party of angry people that insinuate that most immigrants are drug dealers or rapists, that’s a terrible direction for our party. We’re never going to grow as a party. We’re never going to increase our vote among the Hispanic population, the black population, among women all those things we need to expand our party. Donald Trump takes us in the wrong direction. He would be a disaster. We’ll be slaughtered in a landslide. That’s why my every waking hour is to try to stop Donald Trump from being our nominee…

COLMES: One other candidate I want to ask you about is Ted Cruz. Can he legally run do you believe for president?

SEN. PAUL: I think democrats are going to bring it up and I think there will be a legal challenge. If he were the nominee, if he were the president, he would be the first president born outside the United States. The question is a very particularize question, there is a constitutional eligibility that says you have to be natural born and people say “oh it’s decided, it’s decided” We have decided that if you are born and your mom is an American citizen you are a citizen that is decided law. But there hasn’t been a legal case yet on whether or not a candidate or a nominee born outside the United States can be both a naturally born Canadian and a naturally born American at the same time.

The GOP is on a roll! Losing 5 of the past 6 popular POTUS votes, proves what their supporters agree on. ‘The “GOP is out of touch” with reality.’ Donnie until 2016~.

Rand Paul, like his father before him, many times says things I agree with. He had a good interview on the Late Show with Colbert. I guess having a couple of enemies in common with Democrats right now must be why?
