Obama Vetoes GOP Health Care Repeal Attempt

Posted by | January 8, 2016 12:22 | Filed under: Politics

President Obama has vetoed the Republican attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

Obama used his veto pen without fanfare on a legislative package rolling back his signature healthcare law and stripping federal funding from Planned Parenthood.

In a lengthy message to Congress, Obama said repealing the law would reverse improvements made in improving the nation’s healthcare system.

“Because of the harm this bill would cause to the health and financial security of millions of Americans, it has earned my veto,” the president wrote.

Obama noted that congressional Republicans have attempted to roll back the law more than 50 times, all to no avail.

Will the Republicans keep sending it back to President Obama’s desk as many times as they have voted on it in the past?

The GOP is just making hay. Even if a republican wins the presidential election (God forbid), they’ll never overturn AHC the same way they’ll never overturn Roe v. Wade. They can’t afford to look like the bad guy to the majority of the population, which includes women and poor people.

Tea Partiers or Republicans feel that Obama Cares success will make them look bad.

This is a great campaign tidbit to use for Hillary and Bernie. Your tax dollars being wasted, I mean, at work.

    OMG , what a surprise

  14. Foundryman January 8th, 2016 at 21:07

He should have signed it. That would have caused such a panic that the republicans would have had to pass a bill within a day to over ride this one. After that, no more debate about Obamacare. It would have been the cleverest ambush by a President to a ridiculously inept and worthless Congress in history.
