Alabama Judges Torn Between Moore And The Law

Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore’s edict to not issue same-sex marriage licences puts 66 judges in a bind.

Defying history, the law, and common sense, Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore has issued an order prohibiting Alabama probate judges from issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

Those judges now face a choice between disobeying the law of the land and disobeying their boss. Moore issued his law not as chief justice, but in his administrative role as head of the Alabama court system.

This is not Justice Moore’s first Hail Mary in the lost cause against gay marriage—and he’s not alone. All over the country, activists and law professors are wasting paper on fatuous proclamations that Obergefell v. Hodges is not really the law of the land, or is illegitimate because it’s so horrible, or is somehow, some way not as binding as the Supreme Court said it was…

Roy Moore is just the only one who’s a state supreme court justice.

Um, this should not be a problem if you are doing your job and following the law of the land. If it’s a problem for you, you should step down and let someone else who follows the law take the position.

Gotta love them elected judges. “Uphold case law? Nah… I have a constituency whose votes I have to keep.”

Another idiot hater that thinks the bible, when in their hands supersedes reality and allows them to make up whatever they want, defy the supreme court, the constitution, etc.

If you are a state judge and want a career in the private sector some day trying cases as a defense lawyer in front of a federal judge defying a SCOTUS ruling is not a great career move. My guess is that most judges in Alabama will not listen to this guy who is only trying to raise money for his organization. I will not mention it here because i do not want to give it any promotion. Just google Roy Moore and his charity comes up. He is fundraising and doing something like this raises money. Churches and conservative politicians do it all the time.
