High In The 70’s In New York On Christmas Eve

Posted by | December 24, 2015 09:25 | Filed under: Planet

It won’t make sense to sing “Let it Snow” this year.

Record high temperatures in New York and New Jersey may have some residents feeling like they can visit the tropics just by staying put.

Temperatures had already hit 70 degrees in some areas by Thursday morning. They were expected to rise into the mid-70s during the day.

Atlantic City and Trenton are poised to break existing heat records for Dec. 24 by at least 10 degrees.

The downside: The National Weather Service says the balmy weather is bringing winds, showers and even thunderstorms that could last through the weekend.

This is the current map of the jetstream, aka Polar Vortex. When that brown lobe moves to the east, which it typically does in early to mid January, the cold weather will follow.
