Cruz In Private Says He Won’t Fight Gay Marriage

Posted by | December 23, 2015 13:11 | Filed under: Politics

What Ted Cruz says to evangelicals and what he’s said in private are at odds.

…Cruz has publicly promised that opposition to gay marriage would be “front and center” in his 2016 campaign, Politico reports that “in December, behind closed doors at a big-dollar Manhattan fundraiser, the quickly ascending presidential candidate assured a Republican gay-rights supporter that a Cruz administration would not make fighting same-sex marriage a top priority.”

“In a recording provided to Politico, Cruz answers a flat ‘No’ when asked whether fighting gay marriage is a ‘top-three priority,’ an answer that pleased his socially moderate hosts but could surprise some of his evangelical backers.”

Mighty big of him. Especially when one considers it’s the law of the land.

I think he meant that they disagree on gay marriage, not with it.

I was going with the aforementioned “Cruz in private says he won’t fight gay marriage”

So this means if a man proposes to him, he won’t fight it? Because since it’s already law, he can’t really “fight it” in congress. And he won’t be president, so he won’t get the chance to do anything that way either. Not that a president could do anything about a settled law anyway. So his statement is pretty meaningless. Big surprise, huh?

two faced insignificant sob. He’ll drool whatever the momentary fan club wants with never a care for the concept of integrity.

What’s there to fight? Over 60% of the populace supports same sex marriage. I thought Cruz like democracy?

    Translation of what Cruz said:
“Why, no sir. I’m not targeting gay marriage. I just think the states should get their rights to make their own decisions… of course, that means I’ll have to reverse the Supreme Court decision legalizing gay marriage. Oh well, God’s will and all.”

    *big cheesy televangelist grin*

Ted Cruz is a pandering, snake-oil salesman. I understand he does not believe allowing couples of the same-sex to have their unions recognized by the government is right. While I don’t agree with his beliefs, they are his to have. If he can’t run and win on his principles, then he doesn’t deserve to win at all.
