MSNBC To Shamelessly Air Donald Trump ‘Documentary’

Once known for its forward-leaning and diverse political journalism, MSNBC has increasingly become a network ruled entirely by a desperation to keep what viewers it has from changing the channel.

In a perfect intersection of the network’s breakneck sprint away from its non-white audience and willingness to do anything for eyeballs, the network has announced that it will air an “original documentary” on Republican presidential frontrunner and Human White Power Energy Drink Donald Trump (via email):

On Tuesday, December 22nd at 7pm ET, MSNBC will premiere an original documentary, “Citizen Trump with Chris Matthews.”

The 2016 presidential election is shaping up to be one of the most significant events in American history. Will the voters elect the first woman into the Oval Office? Will the GOP withstand the polarizing effects of its current frontrunner?

This election season, Donald Trump has tapped into something that’s grabbed people’s attention. But what has led to this unprecedented moment?

Hosted by Chris Matthews, the documentary takes a look back at Donald Trump’s career and path to politics, chronicling the events that have led to his Presidential run. This is the first in a series of candidate profiles that will air on MSNBC.

Oh, yeah, I can’t wait to see their big documentary on George Pataki.

Make all the excuses you want about Trump being news, this is a transparent and disgusting ratings grab that will no doubt include footage of our possible future president ejaculating champagne all over the Playboy bus:

Yes, that actually happened, and come to think of it, would probably be the most American thing about a Donald Trump presidency.

Aside from the cynicism of exploiting a Racismnado like the Trump campaign for ratings (there will not be a Martin O’Malley doc, or even a Jeb! doc, unless he gets locked up in Folsom Prison one weekend), the thing is being hosted by Chris Matthews, who has shown some, shall we say, odd inclinations toward Trump lately…READ MORE

I don’t know why they are comparing the election of a woman to the election of a billionaire sexist bigot, as if we haven’t be represented by one of them before.

No more MSNBC on my TV.

What is up with NBC’s love affair with the tRump?

    • Suzanne McFly December 21st, 2015 at 16:54

I read some of the comments on the original story and someone claimed the rump has a contract with NBC. He can call and tell them when he is showing up and they have no choice. I do not know if that is true and I am too tired to search for the information, just got home from work lol.

“keep what viewers it has” by airing a Donald Trump “documentary”? That’s a joke, right?

Does anyone watch MSNBC anymore? It is so corporate right wing owned, I’m sure Rachel won’t be around much longer. I have turned to Al Jazeera America for quite a bit of news coverage and thankfully it is not 24/7 Trump and BS politics.
    This is beyond pathetic.

I like them as well. You get news and information without all the reality tv production.

I saw a one half hour show that John Fugelsang hosted the other night. It was good. There are a number of what I would call “news magazine” shows that are very good. You actually learn things, God forbid!
Their regular news shows are very enjoyable and I like a number of the journalists and hosts. I am hopeful more good folks will head there when their contracts expire.

I can handle headline news for a short period. They crack me up with their humor, just blurbs there.

Matthews was in the Peace Corps, what the hell does he have in common with that orange glutton?

    Dear Tommy,
You may want to include a link to the relevant news that you’re reporting on, instead of just attention grabbing drama, else some of us are liable to think you’re a pot with the kettle on speed dial.
(And why bother linking to The Daily Banter, if you’re original piece is on Mediaite?)

That being said, I’m certainly no fan of the amount of attention MSNBC has given Trump.

Sure, we all need to have a Trump feature to add to his nonstop phone-in commentaries every time he wants to broadcast yet another belch.

The mainstream media, especially MSNBC, Fox “News”, and the three broadcast networks, are morally bankrupt and continue to debase themselves toward politicians that routinely decry them. A sick co-dependent relationship indeed.
