Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl faces charges of desertion and endangering troops.

A top Army commander on Monday ordered that Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl face a court-martial on charges of desertion and endangering troops. The decision comes despite a recommendation for lesser charges for the soldier who left his remote Afghanistan outpost in 2009, prompting a deadly manhunt and his own five years of captivity with the Taliban. In a statement, Bergdahl counsel Eugene R. Fidell decried the charges, saying, “The convening authority did not follow the advice of the preliminary hearing officer who heard the witnesses…We will continue to defend Sgt. Bergdahl as the case proceeds.”

one person, whether a top leader in isil or a sergeant in the usa army cannot threaten anything alone. This singling out of targets is absurd. Ask the Hydra.

We broke him, and now we are going to punish him for being broken. I am sure chicken hawks like Huckleberry will be very happy to hear this news.

I think he needs to have a sentence passed down for putting everyone in danger…but really his punishment has been served during his capture…so whatever sentence they pass down it should be “time served, lesson learned” the judgement itself will be enough to deter others who are tempted to do the same thing….he was young and stupid there will always be issues of corruption and inappropriate behavior by superiors…but he chose the wrong way to go about whistle blowing….he should have kept his head down and waited until his return …..

It sure seems strange that the person the Obama administration said served with honor and distinction is facing a court-martial.
Even stranger that Obama invited his family to the White House for a photo-op.
