These Walmart Workers Are Making A Huge Sacrifice In Their Fight For A Living Wage

Some 100 Walmart employees have joined a movement to fast for the 15 days leading up to Thanksgiving. They say this is a protest for an increase in the minimum wage to $15 an hour. And they may also be joined by up to 1000  more low-wage earners around the country who are taking this measure in the hope that people will finally take notice of the growing problem of people who work full-time jobs yet still earn wages which are far below the poverty level.

Some of the protesters will fast for the entire 15 days. Others will join for shorter periods. Many will rely on liquid-only diets for sustenance….READ MORE at LiberalAmerica

    Remember all the hoopla when walmart raised wages??? And minimal coverage when they cut hours to match any increase in pay

      i think this happens initially in any situation …partially as punishment….I think in the end because they are so big “most not all” regain a majority of their hours…but walmart loves the part-time schtick as do many other service businesses…to not obligate themselves in terms of benefits….all the service corporations do that….so I say if you are always going to keep workers perpetually part time..the raise the wage….

        I spent too many years in retail …they will punish you till you leave …then you won’t be a troublemaker at your next job

              it was about some of the first attempts before the depression to unionize coal…..you would like the movie…you might be able to see it online…it’s from the early mid eighties had a bunch of people in it that went on to be big stars…about the Matewan Virginia….attempts….look it up I think you will like it….you will recognize all the stars in there …before they became famous….;)
