Huckabee: Defund The Presidency

Posted by | November 4, 2015 17:00 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

Mike Huckabee is trying to get some oxygen by saying crazy things.

“He’s got a Republican Congress that has never tried to slow him down on his unconstitutional actions. They don’t try to slow down the judicial branch when it goes into judicial overreach and practices what Thomas Jefferson would have called judicial tyranny. They’ve ignored the typical checks and balances that are the constitutional duties of the other branches of government. So I think Obama’s going to just go ahead and do whatever he thinks he can get away with, and up until now he’s gotten away with pretty much anything he wanted to do.

“And I hold the Republican Congress responsible and accountable. It’s time for them to step up, and if they have to cut the funding out of the White House and simply not appropriate funds for him to function, they have the power of the purse, they simply need to start exercising it.”

I see no provision in the US Constitution which allows the House of Representatives to refuse to fund a Constitutionally mandated branch of government.

Oh, I doubt Huckabee wants to somehow eliminate the office or have Obama not perform his duties as President. He just doesn’t want to pay him.

The crazier Huckabee sounds the more fools gather to throw money at his ” campaign. ” Beats working for a living.

    • wpadon November 4th, 2015 at 19:58

He should “write” a book while on the campaign trail so he could promote it like Carson and Trump.

It would come in handy if your fireplace is short of kindling. As long as you don’t mind the smell of burning sh*t.

he should do ‘stand up’ comedy. Wait! he already does!

  17. SkeeterVT November 5th, 2015 at 12:47

Dumb. Absolutely, positively DUMB! There is NO PROVISION anywhere in the Constitution that empowers Congress to deny the necessary funds for either the executive branch or the judicial branch of government. Indeed, for Congress to do so would violate the separation of powers between the three branches by effectively making it impossible for the executive branch to function.

And given the fact that Congress — especially the House — has itself been dysfunctional these past 18 months, Huckabee is an absolute idiot for even suggesting that a dysfunctional Congress seek to render the executive branch dysfunctional by defunding it.

Even more idiotic is the fact that Huckabee is running to head that very same executive branch of government that he wants to see defunded! How does a President Huckabee intend to govern if his administration has NO MONEY in which to operate?
