Ryan Cornered For Demanding Family Time While Blocking Family Leave

House Speaker Paul Ryan’s list of demands included more time with his family, but doesn’t want to legislate family leave for others.

During an interview on Fox News Sunday, host John Roberts pointed out that “there are many people in this country that would like to see you make your priority legislation that gives people the backing of the federal government so that they can have time with their family.”

…“I don’t think people asked me to be Speaker to so that I can take more money from hardworking taxpayers to create some new federal entitlement,” Ryan opined on Sunday. “But I think people want to have members of Congress who represent them, that are like them…

“Don’t you want your member of Congress to be a citizen legislator who lives with you among you, who has your own kinds of concerns, who wants to spend time with his children on Saturdays and Sundays?” he asked. “I’m going to keep living in Janesville, Wisconsin where I’m from, where I raise my family. I’m going to keep going back and forth to D.C.”

The new Speaker said that he would reserve at least two days a week for his family. However, legislation to guarantee paid leave for workers was out of the question.

I have to admit that I’m impressed that he was even asked the question but surprised with his answer of course not. It’s do as I say but not as I do.

He was asked just to give him the chance to say “hardworking taxpayers,” “new federal entitlement,” and “citizen legislator.”

Mr. Ryan I want a legislator that addresses the citizens needs not his own.

I am beginning to think that there has not been a word invented yet that is sufficiently horrendous enough to describe republicans.

“Don’t you want your member of Congress to be a citizen legislator who lives with you among you, who has your own kinds of concerns”….My concerns are not made up of a 3 day work week, making $174,000/year or living in a mansion so exactly what do you have in common with the typical blue collar worker from Wisconsin Mr. Ryan?

Only a shared word in his fake home address. His real home is restaurants where deals are brokered and corporate boardrooms.

    Typical republican hypocrite.

When the idea for family leave came up, we were assured by the left that they did not want “paid” family leave, but paid leave is exactly what this proposed law mandates. Mr. Ryan is right in rejecting this law because as he said we do not need another Federal entitlement. Will you libs kindly wake up and realize that we do not have any extra money for this sort of thing. WE ARE BROKE, DESTITUTE, AND OUT OF MONEY!. This President is on track for making us have 20 trillion in national debt before he leaves office. This my friends is outrageous and completely immoral.

The USA is the wealthiest nation in human history. The only reason the government is short on cash is because corporations and the ultra rich have had exemptions written into the tax code for them, mostly by Republican legislators.

Don’t hand me that crap. We give out corporate welfare like it’s candy on Halloween. About $100 Billion per year. Corporations have over $2 Trillion stashed overseas to avoid paying taxes. They partner with foreign companies so they can book their profits overseas. Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will end up costing us between $4 and 5 Trillion.

      We are NOT FREAKING BROKE!
